hi all i was just wondering how i can set a defined ip for the devices in my network
like my ipod would be 192.168.1.20 and so on because when my devices reconnect they get a random ip

see if your router has a Static DHCP or DHCP Reservation option.

if so, you can enter the device's MAC address and associate it with a specific IP address within that config page.

Record the MAC addresses of your wireless devices you wish to reserve an ip for.

On your router (or dhcp server) you make use of "reservations" by specifying
what ip a MAC gets.

Post your dhcp server type (router or OS) and more specific help will come.

yeah, it can be done on either the device (as a static ip) or the router (with mac address).
Just be aware that on the device it will not necessarily be compatible with other networks, also it will probably be invisible when browsing your network, but it will be able to connect and specifying the ip will allow systems to connect to it.
