Wasn't sure to post this in the Hotdeals section or Ebay section. Anyway, I just noticed this listing posted today. It's not my auction BTW. It's the 2nd gen drives which are faster than the new 3rd gen drives because the new ones are only 5200rpm.

I picked up one of them, as they seem to be selling fast. Best price online I could find was this:

and they seem to get pretty good reviews. Planning to add the drive as a secondary game drive in my SFF itx box. Not sure if it will make any difference, but its about the same price as a regular non hybrid 750GB 2.5 inch drive, so why not...

Ebay seller with 63 feedback and a name like Marys-consignment-tally.

High risk imho.

Not sure if this is a hot deal. Sounds like these drives are OEM which means no warranty.

From the description it sounds like OEM.

Pulled from working system is a red flag. I would rather pay a bit more for retail warranty.

Are these definitely better than just the standard 2.5 Spinner drives?

Yes. I had one of the first gen drives that, though short on the ssd size portion, made a big difference in boot times and common app load times. This was in a gen1 m11x (pentium dual core, 4gb ram). Larger apps and games don't benefit as much because the ssd cache is too small for them, but I definitely think it's worth it.
