Seagate Barracuda 8mg or Maxtor DiamondMax 16 mg

Hi i just want opinions on both the HD's


Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 10 NCQ 250GB 6V250F0 SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM

Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 NCQ 160GB ST3160812AS SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM

I'm going to say the Maxtor. Simply because It's Bigger, and Has TWICE the Cache!!

what are the price differences? if they're the same get the maxtor, though seagates come with a 5yr warranty

The maxtor is 77.44 pounds English
The seagate is 62.22 pounds

So 15.22 for a 16 meg Cache

I no dout will have bad cooling for a while thogh ( rig not built yet )

Mator has a 3 year manufacturer's warranty ..

So i make it the Maxtor a winner ...For 77 quid for a 16 meg Cache 250 gb hard drive .... thats not bad

frankly, they would be extremely light:
mg is milligram = 1/1000 gram. Mg a Megagram would be very heavy. Considering that your "one-a-day" type of vitamin pill probably weighs around 500 mg, an 8 mg HDD would be nice

The maxtor is 3.22GB/pound, the Seagate is 4.01. I'd still go with the Maxtor (but get the Maxline series, just for the extra 2 years warranty).

Honestly, I'd rather have a Maxtor 8MB drive than a Seagate 16MB drive in terms of application level performance. However, the Seagate drive will run significantly cooler (about half the power consumption/heat) and have higher transfer rates.
