This new lower pricing might mean the new cards are closer then we think!

Of course one week after I buy it for $389.99 before rebate. Arrrghhh...

I wonder if Crossfire is less of a trainwreck with the new drivers coming in a week...I wonder if I'm eligible for a second rebate...

How do you like it? How does it over clock? ASIC score?

Since the drivers for the 7970 are mature and working well I would go 7970 over a 770 right now. Especially at this price

Well, realistically, the 770 is basically an OC'd 680... so the drivers should be pretty mature as well.

This seems like a damn good deal but I'm not seeing the response I expected from this forum or on others. Am I missing something? Is this GHz version with the upgraded cooler not any better than the plain 7970'g going for $310 on the Egg? I'm looking to improve my graphics performance at 2560x1440 and replace my 6950 2gb. I really wanted to go with Nvidia this time around, but with the free games and performance/dollar these 7970's offer it seems just too good to pass up! Someone tell me why this isn't a hot deal?!

Problem with Vaporx HD79X0 is that it uses a custom PCB and nobody makes a full cover water block for it so many enthusiast buy a reference PCB HD79X0 card to water cool and get more over clock out of the card from superior cooling.

Also the Vapor X HD79X0 cards have a history of over clocking issues that many believe is related to the BIOS that Sapphire puts out and if you look at the forums at Sapphire and look at the updated BIOS (maybe one a long time ago) Sapphire doesn't seem to over clock the enthusiast market that this card was designed for. So it looks like a great card but Sapphire has neglected it in terms of BIOS updates and its a real tough one to over clock and Sapphire has no stability on the desing of the PCB. This card has shipped with a few different slight PCB designs from power out put design to more commonly Elpida memory or Hynx memory. The Hynx memory is much better for over clocking.

I have a Sapphire HD7950 Vapor X which I love but it's not a great over clocker and has low ASIC score of around 58%.

I have managed to water cool it with custum tweaked water cooling.

The cooling I have works awesome but the over clocking is not very impressive. The GPU low ASIC score makes high voltage a must for it to conduct well.

Still like the card but I think it would be better if SApphire supported it with BIOS update for better over clocking and voltage control on the PCB.

Here is my VApor X HD7950 water cooled.

    Wish it over clocked better.
