I want to buy a new card to run Tomb Raider, Far Cry 3, Bioshock Infinite, Assassin's Creed 3 maxed out @ 1080p 60Hz, and Crysis 3 as far as it will go. Would the Sapphire Dual-X 7950 Boost be enough for my needs? I would be willing to overclock a little, but only on stock voltage. My supplier doesn't have the other Sapphire 7950 versions, only the Vapor-X 7970 GHz edition as an alternative. I can get the 7970 for 133$ more, would it be worth it in terms of it being more silent or having significant added performance for those 133$?

you can easily oc the 7950 to 7970 stock speeds. i have the 7950 and it is quiet. i didnt go for the 7970 and am ok with it. 2500k at 4.4 and 8 gb sys ram lets me play any game at max settings w sweetfx smaa at 1920x1200. Even crysis 3 runs at high fps.

What is the rest of your system like?

Core i5 750 @ stock, Asus P7P55D-E Motherboard, 4 GB RAM. I know it's starting to show its age a bit, basically I'm waiting for Haswell to come out and will include this new video card in the future i5 Haswell build. I don't plan to get a new video card after this one for at least 2 years.

Seems like most of the boost cards have volts cranked to 1.25 under load. You should easily be able to hit close to 1100Mhz without adjusting voltage. Do keep in mind overclocking is a huge "if" so your mileage may vary.

For your system and needs, the 7950 is a better bet. I would pocket the extra $133 and save it towards a new build. i5-750 isn't bad, but I would consider upgrading to 8GB of RAM, as 4GB is getting a little low for modern games.

Get the 8 gb sys ram too. It helps nowadays.

This!
I have the same Sapphy 7950 boost

OP the sapphire HD 7950 boost is a very good card. AMD reference PCB design. you can see the AMD name and logo above the PCI-E connector. good cooler. it can easily overclock to 1150 - 1200 mhz. at the same clocks the HD 7950 is 3 - 6% slower than HD 7970. the best price perf high end card in the market. go for it. :)
