Samsung Spinpoint F3 1 TB $54.99 W/ Free Shipping

That's pretty much the lowest you'll see on newegg. Damn good price for a fast drive. Wish I had reasons to buy 2 more of this so I can raid0 it.

With Seagate buying out Samsung's hard drive division, it'd be a very, very good idea to stock up on these drives while they still exist.

is this the usual going price? or has it been cheaper?

Not that I have seen. I went to buy one the other day on the Egg and it was $69.99. Then Tigerdirect had them on sale for this price so that is why I think Newegg went down. I waited because I have 2 of them already and this is what I paid on those. I knew they would go down eventually so waiting worked. I didn't post it here because I thought people would flame me for putting up obvious stuff.

Thanks OP, you were braver than I :D

Have a few of these - tempted to grab a couple more for some upcoming builds.

mechanical drives don't even come close using the entire bandwidth of the SATA 3.0 interface so there wouldn't be any difference.

I'd venture to argue this drive is better than any 6gb/s drive purely based on value and what you said.

I own 3 of these and 2 have issues (cyclic performance spikes, use search to find my thread about it).

I've had one of these for a few months now not a single issue. Tempted to get a 2nd but... I want a PS3.

I think I've seen them for $49 at the egg before but $54.99 has been their sale price for a while now. By sale price I mean that it jumps up in price for a bit and then comes back down to this price just like how the F4 goes from $79 to $89 and back down.

I just bought 4. I am putting together my first RAID array, so this was a good start for me. Thanks OP.

I'm tempted to pick up another one....$55 is a pretty damn good deal for an extra 1TB of storage space.

Amazon has matched Neweggs price. Might save tax for some.

I have 4 in RAID 10 and they are awesome. I should probably by a couple as spares since they're getting absorbed by Seagate :(

Sweet just order one for 38shipped from amazon should be here tommorrow to replace my dieing 750gb drive.

Beware. Amazon's shipping of hard drives is notoriously bad.

My experience has been pretty good on Amazon shipping. Hard clamshell cover wrapped in lots of bubble wrap. But I'm sure results vary depending on who is doing the packing :D

and thats a good deal. this is even better! im in, and srsly any deal you can find for these, bite. seagate will probably ruin samsungs shit.

They are 4k with 512 emulation so no jumpery fun is needed.

Hmmm, carry the 4, minus 33, divide by... This is cheaper than what you paid.

That's why I used the modifier, "THAT" hot. It would be a little bit like me searching for random products on Google and posting every time I saw Amazon with a price $5 lower than everywhere else. I would fill up the entire forum in a matter of hours.

I was merely trying to give perspective on the quality of the deal, a notion that clearly eludes you.

Yes it does elude me. And I hate to speak on other members' behalf, but I bet it eludes them as well.

Your perspective is from, well, you. You bought it from Microcenter for $60 which is $10 less than
what it was selling for 10 minutes before the OP posted this. Then he posted this and it was $15 less
than what it was selling for 10 minutes earlier. The difference between you and the OP, he came here
to share it with the rest of us while you just sat around and thought you were king cheese for getting
a deal. That is my perspective.

As someone mentioned, they are back up to $65 per drive on both NewEgg and Amazon. It was nice while they lasted.

Don't worry it'll likely go back down again to this price. As mentioned in my initial post, the cheapest I've seen it at newegg was $49 but $54.99 has been their recent sale price. Just like the F4, newegg loves raising the price and lowering the price by $10. Just got to keep checking if you want one.
