Samsung is expected to post a record operating profit of $15.5 billion USD for Q3 2018. Smartphone and display earnings actually fell in Q3, but they were more than offset by Samsung's semiconductor business. Some of us are frustrated by sky high DDR4 retail prices, but it seems that Samsung is laughing all the way to the bank.

Samsung reported second-quarter operating profits fell nearly 5% on quarter but increased 5.7% from the same period in 2017. The semiconductor business accounted for as high as 78% of Samsung's overall operating profits during the quarter.

Now the real story! https://appleinsider.com/articles/1...omponents-smartphone-earnings-plummeting/amp/

Samsung, we are an Apple company! Thanks Apple for the OLED screen purchases along with other components like DDR4! meep meep Your own phone sales fell flat, but hey you boosted your bottom line supporting others! 10% is still a decent amount of revenue from your competition.

" While Samsung shipped 71.5 million units in Q2 2018 compared to Apple's 41.3 million iPhones, Samsung reported it had earned less than half the revenue of iPhone sales during the period." That's not good when your phones are at basically the same price point now.
:ROFLMAO: (y)

uhhh it's not 71.5 millions of S series and Note series... most of them are much cheaper budget phones with much lower margins

I can't wait for China to bring the hammer down on this bunch of crooks. They openly admit to price fixing the DRAM market. And we know about how hot their photocopiers get! But I will give them credit for their small OLED screens and chip manufacturing though.
