Hi all,

I just added a Samsung 980 Pro to my ROG Strix Scar 15 G533 laptop. This is in addition to the existing SK Hynix OS drive. Typically in my systems with Samsung nvme drives I use the Samsung nvme driver. In this case, however, I also have a non-Samsung drive. Can I (and should I) install the nvme driver?

Thank you,
mario

why use drivers from each manufacture ??
do hardware testers/reviews install driver for each drive when they test ??? just wondering
as I've always just ran the standard microsoft drivers ...

Fair question. I’m not entirely sure if there’s a benefit to the NVME driver.

I would recommend to use Samsung NVME driver, but in your case don't matter, Samsung didn't include the 980pro in their 3.3 NVME driver, as it stands today, the 980pro uses Windows default NVME driver.

Did not know that. Thank you!
