samsung LN-T4071F 40" tv

I'm currently looking for a new pc monitor/tv that provides exceptional quality at a reasonable price. On newegg, they have a samsung 40" tv with a 25000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for $1699 and another samsung 40" tv with a 10000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for $1399. Is the extra 15000 contrast ratio worth the extra $300.00?

These TVs are primarly for movies, sports, and Gaming.

Go to BestBuy or CircuitCity and check'em out in person. The contrast ratio is one of many stats to consider.

It really does depend on what you plan to do with it.

Forget about the advertised specs. They are mostly worthless! There is no measures standard and each company can say anything they want...

Now, the LN-T4071F is a great TV and it is better than the previous Samsung model LN-T4061F).
Pros of the 71 serie
- Features a 120HZ panel that should reduce the motion blur (maybe at the cost of some artificats). This is a good feature if you are sensitive to motion blur.
- Better black (although not as good as some high end plasma). This is most welcome.
- Somewhat better video processing
Cons
- I am not a big fan ot the glossy screen (61 model uses mate screen)

Personally, I would go with the 71 model.
Does it worth $300 more? I think it is up to you.
I suggest that you go at your local store and take some time to analyze each TV. You can even ask the sales person to turn off some light for testing purposes. You may also want to play with the settings to get the most satisfying image quality.

If you want the matte version of the 71 look for the 4069. It's on amazon right now for 1549 shipped.
