I hear flip phones are still popular in Asia, which is why Samsung is still releasing these. Would you ever consider owning a flip phone again?

The W2016 has two 3.9-inch Super AMOLED displays with 1280 x 768 pixel resolution, under the hood there is a 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7420 processor with 3GB RAm and 64GB of internal storage. The headset also has a 16-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front camera, it runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. Its 2000mAh battery is packed in a chassis that measures 120.4 x 61 x 15.1 mm and weighs 204 grams.

I would absolutely consider owning a flip-phone again, depending on the context. I would not want it to come at the expense of screen real-estate, but it could potentially do the opposite. At one point I had a Motorola Droid 2. It was a small phone compared to today's phones but it did have a slide-out keyboard. since I didn't have to use a virtual keyboard every time I typed, I actually had just as much actual screen area available while typing as I do now on my 5.5" Note 2. With a modern "flip phone", it could simply have a fold out real keyboard. It could be almost like one of those tablet/laptop hybrids but phone sized with a 5.5"-6" screen.

Little weird implementation of the two screens. I was kind of thinking 2 screens facing each other and one would be a dedicated keyboard surface when needed.

But really you have to think, opened up this thing is 6.5" long....and that's pretty long from what I've been told.....

Again? How about still using a Samsung flip purchased in 2009. Use a prepaid T-Mobile plan. The money saved not upgrading phones every year or so and not having to purchase a data plan is enough to cover the cost of my part of a hunting lease and also a new rifle.

Plus I get the fun of watching the vast herds of folks lost in their devices out in public.

I have a simple Samsung flip phone I use for actually calling.
I don't need aps, camera, text or internet on my phone.
Smart phone have their advantages, I just am not one to take advantage of them at this time.
That said a more powerful flip with maybe signal strength and battery life sounds good to me.

I still have my old Motorola RAZR. Of course I don't use it anymore I removed the battery and my kids use it as a toy. It's not uncommon for my 3 year old to take it with us wherever we go. Every now and then I pick it up and I can't believe how small and easy it was to carry. It's also held up amazingly well.

For my job I couldn't survive without a smartphone but I do miss the days of not charging my phone for a week at a time.

I actually miss my flip phone.
Smartphones are nice, but I'm beginning to feel that they're much too big to be considered a "portable" device. Plus, the durability factor. With old flip phone, I can just shove it in my pocket. Not so much with larger smart phones.

I got large hands, and a 6" form factor (Nexus 6) phone is definitely at the limits of the one-handed, thumb-to-the-other-side usability test. However, the screen real estate with a high DPI is quite awesome.

OTOH, the old Nexus 5 with 5" screen was definitely 'in the glove' if you will - but the screen size was just too limiting.

I've often found that screen size is something I just get use to. Using a BlackBerry Classic now and though it only has a 3.5 inch screen I don't really find it limiting at all. This coming from me having a 4.5 inch from the Passport before it and that was coming from a 6.5 inch Xperia Ultra.

Though in my own defense I don't play games or watch a lot of video on my phone so most of it is browsing, email, and texting which most screens are at least "OK" for.

I am currently still using my RAZR that I bought in 2005, just put the third battery in it. Still makes good calls and does all I need a phone to do, make phone calls.

I could consider a flip smart phone possibly, but unlike this one in the article, I would rather it didn't have a screen on the outside, that is what the flip is for, to protect the screen from damage by the junk I keep in my pocket.

I have wanted to get my v3i going for a long time. Makes latest smartphones look like fragile whales. I live somewhere with no cell reception and practically everything is web based, that I do on a smartphone e.g. WiFi. But when I'm out, I don't need smartphone capabilities so much. Just txt and call. A phone that combines both, looks very appealing though. I also dislike touchscreen interfaces. A 5.5" screen is still a bitch to type on, (not small hands) and I don't want a bigger phone.
Be keen to try this phone out.

Flip has some real advantages.
I really liked my old Motorola what-ever it was flip phone.

First, they are smaller and easier to store.
Second, the flip cover protects the screen.
If you could get some upgraded function, I'd look hard at that.

Yes, several years ago I bought my first tablet and decided that my tablet did the internet part of things better then my phone did. Problem was, I couldn't find a decent feature phone to partner it with.

That's part of what it comes down to for me. I don't need both to do everything. I would rather a phone was just a phone/communications device. Pair the two up and split the functionality and do it as a cohesive partnership and I'll definitely consider it.

If priced right I would get this for my parents, especially if that 16MP camera is the exact same one the S6/Note 5 are using. It'd be easier to use for them than a smartphone and they wouldn't have to hog mine whenever they want to take a decent picture. I would never buy a flip phone for myself, however. I use mine less as a phone and more as a portable internet+multimedia terminal that happens to take decent pictures and make phone calls. A flip phone doesn't cut it for my uses.

Well, for several years now the phone makers have only looked at the feature phone as a product that only old fogies who refuse to be assimilated will buy. They are made cheap and with the minimal feature set as if only an 80 year old would ever buy them.

And this is part of the reason that others won't buy them.

Honestly, with that much power behind, I would consider it.
Because when I first moved from my flip to smart several years ago, I was not very happy.
Reason 1: my hand is way too small () Nowdays, I have hard time handling my G3 XD
Reason 2: my dad used to always say to me: "You don't need your phone to be smart for you when you are smart yourself"..... He uses smartphone now and says: "I use it so that I can be more smart"
Reason 3: those flips phones are "Tanky" sometimes. They take everything.

On top of all that, it's Samsung and my first phone was Samsung and it was the best phone ever!
