I'm going to do mostly photo editing and building vector graphics. Which one should I go for besides the fact that samsung has more pixels. Which one has better color rendition? Will there be any difference in colors if I get a spyder to calibrate the colors?

I hear rave reviews for the 244t for photo editing, but 13" inches more makes me want to reconsider to the westinghouse depending on the margin of greatness the samsung has over it.

the sammy and the westy are different animals with one being a computer monitor and the other an lcd tv. for what you're doing I would recommend the sammy just because of its color, resolution and its meant for what you're doing.
 
I would definitely choose the Samsung over the Westinghouse if I were in your position.
