ok, why would anyone 'hate' wmc.

    win7 + wmc + mcm + mb = love.

WMC is a pain in the ass. I get better results with WinTV.

A pretty face only goes so far. SageTV has always had a fantastic backend but the face left something to be desired. With 7.0, the backend is even better than before and the face is now somewhat pleasing to look at.

I'm making an assumption here, but my guess is you aren't streaming video/TV to multiple clients. This is where SageTV separates itself. Sorry, but XBOX360 extender is no HD200..with a $100+ more, you get a full blown PC client.

But not TV. There in lies a huge world of difference. If just streaming videos I can understand your point of view.

well summarized. and I have to say my eyes watered a bit when I saw this. I have a very soft spot for sage and recently went back to it, taking a hit on the visual WAF for stability and ease of use. I will be doing a sage 7 test box this weekend.

to any users already going on it...any stability problems? I use sage for 90% of my media all over the house so a glitchy, buggy beta will not do. also, is there any word on licensing? I am guessing htat a new version will need a new license. Sage usually lets you use the version license for all revisions but my sage 6 will probably require an update.

    VERY IMPORTANT!!! UPGRADE PRICING
Some licenses will require an upgrade fee to function in Version 7. Here's the rules:
    1. Mac and Linux licenses do NOT require an upgrade fee
    2. Placeshifter and Media Extender licenses do NOT require an upgrade fee
    3. SageTVClient licenses do NOT require an upgrade fee
    4. SageTV Media Center for Windows licenses purchased on or after Dec. 1st, 2009 do NOT require an upgrade fee
    5. There is a 21 day free trial of SageTV Media Center on Windows for those who do not fall into the above categories or who are new users of SageTV
    6. Upgrade licenses for SageTV Media Center on Windows are $39.99 and are valid with any prior license for SageTV Media Center for Windows.

Upgrade licenses for SageTV Media Center on Windows can be purchased here: http://store.sagetv.com/mm5/merchant...tegory_Code=SS

The reason we require upgrade licenses during the beta period is that we do not want to have to put an expiration date in the software to ensure users who are required to pay the upgrade fee end up paying it. The expiration date would mean some users would be forced to install a new version even if they are happy with the beta version and don't want to change it. This has always been our beta testing policy.

    Buying V7 Licenses
If you're going to buy a regular license for SageTV and think that you'll benefit by waiting to buy a V7 license instead of the current V6 license in the store; there's no need to wait. V6 licenses that are purchased now will have all the same benefits as a V7 licensed purchased once V7 is fully released.

    WOOOHOOOO

    HD-PVR stability enhancement.

I have been using 2 HD-PVRs and they lockup about once per week. Hopefully this new version will solve some of those issues.

Works greats. This is the best Sage beta experience I can remember. No issues with my HD-PVR's on my WHS/Sage server. Even the HD100 extenders are zippy fast now with the Sage7 STV file loaded.

I only had two issues, both minor.

One, I had to change from CoreAVC to the built in MS DTV decoder on my Windows 7 HTPC. I'm running an ATI 5450 card in this box. Still get full hardware acceleration with the MS codec.

Two, there seems to be an issue with DTS playback out of MKV, AVI's, etc. But there appears to be a simple fix by adding a decoder entry to the properties file, seems to be left blank by default. I haven't had a sec to try it, but someone on the forums said it works fine once you add the entry.

I'm likely going to buy it just to support them but I'm a little peeved that Comcast has finally locked down all the channels here except local. Granted most of what I record is networks but unless I can get a ir blaster to work with the converters I'm likely going to have to give on htpcs.

Yah...I just got this too. It is making my life difficult figuring out if I want to dump money for two HD-PVR's and a 2 box rentals :(
