Ok so my setup is i have sage tv running fullscreen on a tv via svideo and dualview(off my main box, it just sits in the taskbar). The svideo pull is like 12 feet. When only recording(not watching) my resources arent really affected, but if i'm watching tv it jumps between 20-60% of my cpu. Is that normal? doenst happen when i play movies off my network through sage

what codec are you useing to watch? if the machine is relatively weak and the stream size is rather big (say higher than DVD standard play) processor usage can be rather high if the codec in question does no hardware acceleration. ffdshow does not do hardware acceleration and Intervideo (hauppauge and windvd) hardware acceleration has to be triggered by a registry key first. Also processor usage can be high if your using VMR9 on a video card that is not fully DirectX 9 compliant or supports DXVA.

i have an amd 64 3500+ and the codec used is vmr9 for rendering and the nividia codec.
