Is there are documented difference in reliability between Sabrent drives and Samsung drives? I am talking about NVME. The new one looks too good to be true.

Which Samsung NVMe are you talking about, the 980 Pro? It has been noted by reviews that the new 980 Pro has much lower endurance level (or warranty) compared to the 970 Pro. Although it real life I still don't think most people would get into trouble with 650TB Write of the 980 Pro, it is something to be noted.

Correct. Is Sabrent a viable alternative for consumer/gaming workloads? If I drop $400 on a drive I want it to last 4-6 years.

I would think so, but personally, I would pay that slight extra for the a reputable brand for the warranty in case something goes wrong. However, I am disappointed in the new 980 Pro endurance. What size are you getting? Note that Samsung 970 or 980 Pro does not come with 2TB capacity, only 1TB max.

Which Sabrent are you looking at? What about Western Digital or Corsair drives?

I have both a Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB and Corsair MP600 2TB in my system, PCIe 3 vs PCIe 4. The difference is minimal (at least it feels that way for me). Here is the "unscientific/personal" benchmarks -

Legend:
C Drive is Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB (boot drive)
E Drive is Corsair MP600 2TB
U Drive is Samsung PM981a 2TB

Not sure if we will see 980 pro/evo this year from samsung, i been waiting but its been delayed, last i heard was going to release ends of august but didnt happen, so unsure if we will see it this year on retail. I'm at the verge of buying a Sabrent.

980 Pro is a little odd as its a TLC drive normally Pro is reserved for MLC

normally samsung SSDs are faster at lower QD
