S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chernobyl

Was this after they give the announcement that you won, though? For me there was a radio message that indicated the attack was over, and to meet inside the town hall, but when I go there nothing is happening. And the objective still just says "Defend Zalissya". So I dunno.

I'll check it out after the new patch and see if that fixed anything.
For me it was a bit puzzling too. Then I found some dead bodies inside the town hall way in the back corner to the left. For whatever reason that triggered things for me. No idea why it works that way.

That was because one of the monolith would spawn UNDER the freaking map... lol. The solution was to walk away to another zone, at which point the NPC would disappear (de-spawn) and then the mission would succeed.

You guys might want to load up the game peeps on Steam say saves are broken with people having 259+ hours in the game I'm downloading the 2nd patch.

On the last step.. game just crashed.. joy.

Gotta say.. moving into the ending just reinforces my earlier thoughts that the main storyline.. sucks. The value in this game is definitely the open world exploring. 169 hours in and the story just continues to disappoint.

From support.....

"Please note that if UE Debug Tools are used to modify the game, we won’t be able to investigate or fix reported bugs. Additionally, future updates may not resolve issues and could potentially create new ones for you. For accurate support, ensure save files are unmodified."

I had UE Tools installed for a short time to try to get a side quest unbugged... did not work. Uninstalled permanently when I discovered it was causing shader compile to not launch. My saves seem fine.

I disabled all of my A-Life/AI related mods to see what all they fixed, but all of my other mods seem to be working fine. Was able to load up my save just fine and everything seems to still be working.

Since I finished the game i haven't touched it. But if they ever release hardware RT, I might load it up for some fun again

Just wrapped.. 165 hours to finish clearing all areas and stashes. Quite a bit of content. I'll likely take a rest and maybe go back for the alt ending.
Impressive... I didn't have it in me to do all of the stashes, I did as many side missions as I found though. Also had a save point before you start the final choice of endings, so if I want to try the others, it will be quicker.

Got a save from just b4 SIRCAA.. should do.

For me game is fine. If you install 3 mods it is amazing how much improvement they bring to the game. I have sprint 4X, zero repair costs and zero weight consumables. After that the game is a blast!

Also my save is fine after new patch.

I love how they're fixing a ton of bugs and performance issues but Jeez 1700+ fixes in almost every patch shows that the game should have been delayed another few months...why do publishers continue to force developers to release games when they're not ready?...most big AAA PC games need at least an additional 3 months of patches before being ready to play

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was self-published by GSC Game World despite what the internet including myself said early on. Microsoft might have provided funding, but they didn't publish it.

Thats so early in the game, and technically none of your choices determine the ending until late in the game (don't want to give it away, but you can google this). Early on the paths can change how you get to the end, but you can pick any of the endings in the last 3/4 of the game FYI.

You playing Stalker 2? No I'm patching Stalker 2!!!

What is this A life everyone is talking about?

I can't see anyone having fun with this game running a 4k monitor. I get dips below 40 fps and stutter which takes the "fun" meter straight to zero. The graphics at 4k are unbelievable with the winds and debris flying all over the place with the occasional lightning strikes. If I could get a stable 60 fps I would thoroughly love it. Back to Black Myth Wukong.

I ran then entire game at 4K, max settings, DLAA + FG and was a solid 90~110 FPS the entire time.

I mean you are running a 8700k with a 4090fe. You are super limiting your video card.

I know when I played at 4k with my 3090, I would dip in the 40's......And you have a 4090fe.

Just saw his sig... yeah, an 8700k and only 16GB of RAM is a massive leash on that 4090FE...

Minimum specs for the game is a 7700k. RAM won't help lol.
You can still play it with a 7700k (see sig), but places with lots of NPCs drags really bad. Rostok in particular can get really nasty with all the NPCs. Once I'm outside of Rostok, game is totally playable. I have hardware G-Sync so 40fps feels more like 60fps; however, getting consistent framerate matters more to me than average. This game is totally playable on older hardware.

Wouldn't play it without DLSS SR though.

Is the RPM-74 (PKM) 7.62x39 or 7.62x54r? Should be the larger caliber.

How is the recent patch? Is it generally stable enough now?

For me, things are fine but I haven't had any problems most of my time with the game. I had the game crash a handful of times from a memory leak. I have 64GB of system ram though so it usually only happens if I play for a really long time. Most of the pop in has been fixed and the game is snappy. My FPS is locked at 115FPS pretty much everywhere other than a couple of rooms where merchants are hanging out in bases where the FPS will drop to about 100 FPS. I've got 197 hours in and I'm ready to take on the final mission. I'll probably do it tomorrow. I only experienced one bugged mission and it's been reportadly fixed. I found a way around the mission with a little effort but it shouldn't be an issue anymore.

I collected all of the stashes but one. A single stash near the cement factory has a numeric keycode on the door and I can't find any clues to open it. I've collected all of the legendary artifacts and found all of the unique guns and attachments. I may try collecting all 120 artifacts on my next run through the game but it will be a modified run and probably take a really long time. I think the game is great and lives up to the older games. I would rather play stalker 2 than any of the other games or mods so I'd say it lived up to my expectations.

The A LIFE 2.0 is the only let down and after they patched the game I consider it decent enough, it could still use some improvement for sure but the game world feels fine to me in it's current state. I think they need to add more time between enemy respawns and make spawn points in random locations around certain areas because right now there are areas where enemies will respawn all the time so you see the same group of goons every time you pass certain locations and that sucks. I don't have problems with enemies spawning on top of me or right behind me anymore. I can see mutants and stalkers in the distance and sometimes fighting each other. I don't care if enemies are being tracked outside of my play area because you would not know the names of stalkers or recognize any of them in the real world. Some of the old Alife functions were cool but didn't really serve any realistic purpose and people have become obsessed over it. It could be better but it's not terrible and they could make it great with a few more tweaks in my opinion.

I included a picture of my loadout below. I didn't farm any artifacts or enemy respawns and I didn't use the flower artifact to cut my costs down because I was unaware of it until the end. I also didn't use any mods. There are certainly ways to make a lot more cash than I did and I don't think Veteran difficulty is all that hard economically speaking but it does give you stuff to spend all of your money on until you get to the end of the game. Pripyat is where the cash starts to pile up before the finale.

Using the artifacts you can pretty much increase your carry weight and increase your endurance. Then use the flower artifact to cut your costs down and it pretty much makes veteran difficulty feel like normal mode. Blood suckers can be annoying until you get an auto shotgun but I don't feel like the game is super hardcore. Hopefully mods will make it really hard and survivalist. I'm looking forward to the DLC and graphic improvements that come along in the future. I think the gameplay, graphic quality, sound quality and story pretty much live up to what the original game did in it's time. New tech has benefits and limitations and this game feels like a true modern stalker game that balanced everything rather well. It's a solid 9/10 for me.

Still stay away from Rostok if you wanna be in your inventory.. and the floaty bubble anomalies still cause the game to crash for me. Otherwise seems stable.

The RPM-74 (PKM) is 7.62x39. you gotta farm a boatload of that shit if you wanna use the PKM or Dmpro. And most of the drops are not AP rounds that you really wanna be using at endgame. I got tired of the BS and installed a mod so traders sold ALL ammo. I still paid a LOT for it.. spent 400k or so credits goofing with the PKM.. lol.

Latest patch fixed the Rostok inventory memory leak for me. Haven't ran into the issue yet and I put probably 20+ hours into the game going to and from Rostok all weekend long.

I still get performance drops depending on where I'm facing in Rostok, but I deal with it. At this stage in the game I'm only there briefly to dump my loot.

I also played around with DLSS overrides but I can't say at this point if I notice a difference. I did figure out how to get the DLSS version to overlay when the game is running.

Oh, using latest Nvidia drivers 572.42 fwiw.

I don't have memory leaks in Rostok with the latest patch but I did run into one in the cooling towers Duty base. I didn't have any Memory Leak issues until patch 1.4 where they were trying to fix the problem for lower end systems. Now they have fixed it in some locations but I think it's a potential problem anywhere where a storage crate is available.

I finished the game today at 202 hours played. Not a bad bit of entertainment for the cash. I won't spoil anything but I get the feeling that these available endings are just a prelude to the real ending that will occur after the DLC's are finished. I chose the Strelok ending and then watched the others on Youtube.

Just fired it back up and am starting just before SIRCAA. Adjusted native res to 7680x1440 as I played through the first time on a single screen. Had to lower IQ settings a lot but its sure a LOT more immersive. Much harder to do the jump mazes. I'll have the diamond armor and dnpro a lot sooner this time for the non-ward ending.

You see, for me, that 2.6km walk turns into 20 hours of more content. That's why I love this game.
I can see that but for me - there is no reason to do so. There is no XP to grind, there is no real worthwhile missions to do, and thus far, I think I have seen all the major mutants - the controller, the guy who pulls weapons, the camo monsters, the 3 or so types of human enemies, the 3 headed dog, and maybe a couple of adds that I am forgetting. If I was getting stronger doing this, I would've indulged but bee lining to the next objective is good enough.

Some people play the game for the journey.

You are not those people. Its fine, but unfortunately the result is that when you play a game that most fans want to play for the journey..... you feel tired of it at times.

Stalker has never really been a story driven game IMO - I have played all of them, several hundred hours in each - and I only know the entire story of the three games through wiki and such. Its more about exploring The Zone, and sometimes having bits of story.

It's a survival game, not a RPG. The long treks are supposed to strain your supplies, and you need to explore in the hopes of finding more or better ones to make the trek easier.
