S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chernobyl

I was getting complete ass performance with this game after upgrading to a 5080. Ended up having to wipe out everything and reinstall the game. It wasn't recaching the shaders at the beginning and I'm not sure if that was related, but after getting rid of everything and reinstalling the game, plus my same mods, it runs a million times better now. Not sure what was going on with it before. I even tried manually deleting the shader cache, no go.

I have not has a shader compile in over a week.. they just stopped happening. I only have 2 mods installed and one is just to be able to bring up the command line interface.

***PSA*** It was the mod for the CLI that kept the shader compile from running. I uninstalled it and the compile came back.

I had one of those mods too, I removed it and it still didn't (before I did a full uninstall). Very weird stuff.
 
One thing I have noticed in my continuing loot whoring (up over 1.3mil credits now) and weapon upgrading, be careful with caliber upgrades on weapons. It seems once you upgrade to the new & more effective ammo, it stops being sold by traders. This is not the first occurrence. I upgraded the Dnpro to 7.62x39 and NO one sells it. Checked Rostok, Yaniv (and I had to run because of the guide bug) and even in Prypiat.. nyet. Luckily I've been keeping it since the beginning of the game and have a few thousand rounds on hand... albeit a lot of it is the non AP round I prefer. Seems bullshitty I can purchase rounds for the ultra rare Gauss rifle.. but not a more commonly used round. Most of the drops you get from NPC's are just a few rounds and almost always non AP rounds. If I run low I'll just gift myself some more with the CLI. This type of designed scarcity is just stupid. I've done the time clearing.. gimme my fucking ammo u cunts! :mad:

I bank about 100K in credits every trip to Rostok now even after repairs. Going just for the discounted repairs is worth the trip. Fast travel with guides becomes cost effective for frequent trips with the increased carry weight mod.
 
I admire your dedication to the game. I am in it to finish it only. No hoarding etc. Just following main story for the most part as most to the side stuff is garbage. Exploration is also garbage with such a low hit rate to find anything good. Not interested in trying to get to another place only to get stuck with load issues. As I said I am only using 3 mods to barely make the game enjoyable. Anything more requires much more involvement that with my schedule isn't probably best use of my time. I think at almost half way through I have seen almost everything the game has to offer and honestly, it isn't much. There is little incentive to continue. Right now I just wanna know if the dude will end up with his apartment or not lol.

lol.. I get it. Stick to the main story and you'll get thru pretty fast IMHO. I find the exploring to be far more fun than the main story.

The loot in this game is crazy stupid. Fight your way to a stash through several groups of bandits and mutants.. open the blue safe to find 1 bottle of vodka, 1 bottle of water, 2 bandages, 2 bread and 6 rounds of 9mm non AP ammo. PROFIT!!!
 
Exactly my point. I did get a decent gun and armor but that’s about it in 20-25 hours play through. Rest good stuff I got via main story. Even the artifacts suck ass. Many times I don’t even equip them or forget.

Watch out for the "upgrades" on that Saiga.. one of them makes it so you can no longer use buckshot... the most prolific 12ga round in that game.. lol.

I'm going to assume you are speaking of the barrel upgrade (they call it calibre upgrade oddly enough) to a rifled barrel, for the slugs. Found that out with the Cracker early game and noticed you couldn't go back either. Solution was to find another Cracker and have one for each occasion. Although, for the Saiga, it's already deadly enough with the smoothbore.

As a side note, I ended up cheesing the Rostok Arena round with the Chimera. The bullpup they give you was too spray and pray, and you have no backup when you run out of ammo. So, I snuck an RPG into the arena and made the fight more in my favor ;)

That was one of the harder fights in the game. I went through all the ammo they give you, and almost all the ammo from the weapons on the ground before it finally died. It's not like I'm a bad shot either.
 
I played 202 hrs so far and haven't started my first mission in Garbage. legendary artifact farming and exploring the map for me

target practice!!!

So there is a joint in Pripiat.. the "Sunny Kindergarden" farming and or target practice dream. it's surrounded by apartments with snipers in them. there does not seem to be any way to clear the area. Kill everyone and before you can loot the bodies.. more will spawn. And these guys drop goodies.. exo's... gauss rifles.. etc. I burned so much ammo here.. just having a blast clearing the waves. I've got a restroom in one of the sniper nest apartments piled with looted red condition rifles.. like dozens.. they are spilling over down the stairwell.. lol.
 
So at this point I'm just playing with the different weapons I've collected using the enemy infinite respawn location I found. The Saiga has served well up to this point but clearing buildings loaded with decked out Lithians" the Dnpro just seems to do better.

I'm going to try the "Glutton" next after upgrading it fully. That huge ammo box just seems really attractive :p. I've installed a mod so I can now purchase the 762x39 AP ammo it and the Dnpro use that is usually not sold anywhere. It's expensive still. 900 rounds runs a few hundred thousand credits. My last loot run to Rostok at near full weight of 140 kilos (encumbered as hell) with all yellow dropped enemy weapons yielded just shy of 150k credits after repairs. I've stockpiled over 1.5 mil credits and I think I'm pretty close to endgame so if I go a bit in the red playing with different weapons I'm sure I'll be ok. Plus I still have a boatload of artifacts and other stuff in my stash I can sell off. I have every other type of exo and seva suit in stock and ready to be sold too.

I ran the endgame almost entirely with the gauss rifle... lol. It is so OP and I had like 200 rounds for it.

I have over 400 rounds for the gauss already. It's fun to goof with but the ROF is frustratingly low at times. I was tryin to kill a lithian with it last night from an elevated sniper nest... guy was just peppering me accurately from like 100m... the AI aimbotting in this game just sucks bawlz. Finally killed him and went to loot his corpse.. guy was longballing me with a freakin MAC10. I find using a fully upgraded Whip with the 20 round mag to be far more satisfying.
 
Yeah, the AI was nuts in the game. Took any fun out of trying to sneak around, so I always just went in guns blazing like I was playing a round of MP COD. 😂
 
I played this today found my another artifact only have slot for one still I got to the Garbage Map and saved at some base.
I wanted to go back to the starting area and repair a long range rifle but I kept dying.
 
Yeah the AI took the wind out of my sails. What are they? Ukrainian SF? Spetnaz? Christ, definitely going to add a mod to the AI to make it a bit easier for me.

I was on my way to Chemical Plant and got ambushed by these fuckers and kept dying so I shelved the game for a week.
 
OK.. so the Glutton is officially a h00t to play with.

But.... I also went through over 300k credits in ammo burning folks down with it.. lol.

Back to the Dnpro, Whip and Saiga trio.

still no info on when they plan on releasing the hardware ray tracing patch?...hopefully the game will be in much better shape as far as performance, features, bug fixes and graphics by then
 
The story is starting to get much more interesting for me. I just finished upgrading the Siaga 14 and I'm starting to clear stashes around the red forest. I know the current spawn system is not as good as the A Life of old and I feel that AI in general could use some improvements but things are much better than when the game launched. I'm actually pretty happy with the game at the moment. I'm approaching 170 hours of playtime. I still have not visited the cooling towers or Pripyat. You can tell this game was made for stalker fans and not some mass market, dumbed down crap for the masses. I can't imagine playing through this story without any knowledge of previous games. It pretty much hinges on characters from past games and places and events from past games to tell the story. Game runs very well for me, shooting mechanics are good and I'm still spending most of the money I'm earning up to this point in the game. The game world is huge and atmospheric. I'm really getting into it and the game is starting to leave a positive impression on me overall.

If they can improve the Alife 2.0 a little more and add some cool DLC stuff with raytracing it's going to be a killer base for the modding community. I think it's cool that you can just live the life of a stalker and completly ignore the story if you want to. The game already has that Anomaly open world free roam gameplay built in from the start.

Whelp, I think I just hit the Zalissya defense bug. I managed to defend, and it said "well done, come to the town hall, I want to share something"....and then nothing updated. Everyone's standing around, talking to Gaffer does nothing (except give me 1000 coupons infinitely in a loop, which is pretty funny).

Damn that was a great bug. I got up to 270K credits but then game crashed. Trying again.

Hit 500 Gs and then crash again. ROFL.

  • Reconfigured the number of armor NPC are wearing. Increased the chance of spawning low and mid-tier armor, while the chance for top-tier armor to spawn was reduced.
  • Increased damage from radiation depending on accumulated rad-points
  • The chance of spawning NPCs with high tier weaponry in early stages of the game was reduced.
  • Added ability to trade with additional NPCs at Hubs.
  • Economy tweaks for A Job for the Barkeep repeatable missions on Veteran difficulty.

  • Fixed FPS drops during boss fight with Faust.
  • Fixed an issue with performance drop on closing PDA or Pause Menu.

  • Fixed that caliber on the HUD does not change after upgrading weapon caliber with a technician.
  • Fixed a problem where the player could not skip a cutscene with gamepad with proper key if subtitles were off.
  • Fixed that "Track" status is present for completed missions in the Completed tab of Journal.

  • Fixed an issue when a shelter mark appeared on an inaccessible building if emission was started in the Red Forest area.
  • Removed several invalid artifact spawners and anomalies

  • Beautification/visual improvements to multiple locations and regions.

  • Fixed an issue where Agatha's model disappeared when dialogue options were displayed in a cutscene during Wishful Thinking mission.
  • Fixed an issue when no videos were playing at screenwall displays during Dangerous Liaisons mission for PC Microsoft Store players.
  • Fixed an issue with missing haptic feedback in multiple cutscenes
  • Fixed an issue with disappearing hair with different NPCs in multiple cutscenes

Voiceover and Localization​

  • Improved facial animations for idle NPCs.
  • Updated NPC animations in the multiple dialogs.
  • Improved facial animations for several important story NPCs.
  • Fixed EN voiceover playing for UA localization during car scam encounter at Buryakivka.
  • Fixed voiceover desync issue during dialogue with Richter in The Boundary mission.
  • Fixed mismatch in subtitles and VO during first dialogue with Strider in Hot on the Trail mission.
  • Minor fix of Serbian localization in dialog phrase.
  • Minor fixes to multiple localizations

Sound and Music​

  • Reworked sound effects of Carousel anomaly.
  • Fixed an issue where Clicker Anomaly was inaudible at close distance.
  • Changed the sound of receiving damage from some anomalies to better reflect the type of damage received.
  • Fixed an issue where Poltergeist sounds would play after loading a save that was made after the player killed him during the There and Back Again mission.
  • Reworked sound effects for opening weapon selector menu.
  • Fixed an issue where mutants were too loud at long distances.

Looks like my free rides from the Rostok guide just ended.. wondered why there were no prices listed on my return loot runs from Prypiat.

Got in a battle with a few Burer's in a basement some time back and they swiped my Saiga.. after killing them it vanished. So that was fun. Had to redo the battle from a save. From that point on whenever I ran into one I just spammed nades so they cant steal my weapons. I only use nades against them and those rat mobs anyway so I have a few hundred in inventory.

Speaking of nades.. it would be nice if the enemy wasn't able to toss them like across the entire fucking map. Start sniping an enemy group from 200m and just wait for the nades to start dropping around your position.. hella annoying. These fuckers all recruited from the MLB or what?

Poltergeists.. still hate those fuckers. They chucking shit at you and most times they are not to be seen at all. Kill every one of those fuckers I can.

On the Zalissya defense... when I did it there was a wounded enemy soldier that needed to be found and killed. That fixed it for me... he was well outside the center of town.

crap.. looks like the nuked the weird water artifact anti radiation effect. They should have left that one alone.. it was a bitch to get.

Was this after they give the announcement that you won, though? For me there was a radio message that indicated the attack was over, and to meet inside the town hall, but when I go there nothing is happening. And the objective still just says "Defend Zalissya". So I dunno.

I'll check it out after the new patch and see if that fixed anything.
