S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chernobyl

huh. drivers are up to date? tried flipping hdr on/off, if it has it? ive had it do some weird stuff...
Drivers are latest, tried HDR off (I had the same thought). No change. I even removed any optimization INIs and verified the game files to pull down the stock stuff, same issue.

It's starting to seem like some sort of engine issue, but I didn't really notice it before now. Either the latest drivers or the latest game patch seems like it changed something, but I don't know what.

I have a 5080 coming sometime next week, I'll try a full driver wipe with DDU when I swap it in.

Yeah, I got rid of everything visual-related and it didn't seem to help. I may try to just gut everything but I'm not sure what affect that will have on my save file.
i would wipe it out. the save files should be in your appdata folder, could backup those.
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Stalker2\Saved\SaveGames
or
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Stalker2\Saved\STEAM

Oh I meant I wonder if it would break my save to not have the mods. I will try it and see what happens.

Had to install my second mod so I could bring up the cmd line interface. Only way to progress on a bugged side mission.

I have a stuck marker for "take cover from the emission" from like, 4 emissions ago that never cleared.

I've got a marker for a different side mission in Rostok that will not go away as well. Game was def pushed out early for $$$. Still enjoying it though. Lucky nuff to be able to find fixes to most of the problems

Also they're going through an active conflict, so a bit of leeway is understandable. But yeah, it needs a lot of work. Thankfully they've been pretty on it in terms of patches.

Took the big decision to side with the ward… 👀
Don’t know if it was right or wrong. I wanted to help Noontide but then they felt batshit crazy…

I did as well... TBH they are all batchit crazy. :p
Remember to stay the course because they will give you at least 3 times to go over to the other side. Always side with Colonel and always go against your "friends" who are not with the ward.
Certain factions will remain friendly to you regardless of your affiliations.

You're never locked in until near the end. You will also have the option to turn your back on both factions. That's why there are four endings instead of two.

Monolith, Mercs and Military will always be unfriendly, I think.

Your correct but if you are sure that you want the Ward ending, what I said still stands.

Got it. I just exited SIRCAA after an experiment. Seems still a long way to go in this game.

I'm going to play back through from just b4 SIRCAA anyway so going Ward was not a biggie.

Had a difficult time early figurin out who was friend / foe. Sure I killed a few friendlies. So now I just wait till I take fire.. then kill everyone.. lol.

***EDIT***

One oddity. Last few times I fired up the game it skipped the compile on launch. Think that has something to do with installing the UETools developer console?

Yeah that was one of my biggest complaints with the game knowing who's who.
I've stood shoulder to shoulder with the Monolith and the Military and walked back in forth in front of them before they started shooting me.
From a distance it's a lot worse smh.

The only real clue they give you, other than memorizing their uniform colors and camo pattern, is the uniform arm patch. But in a firefight, that's like asking to find the name on a dog tag.

In Misery, thus Anomaly, they let you loot faction patches from bodies. There was no question who you just killed/looted.

I'm ok with it though. I'd rather not ruin my immersion by putting floating text/icon over a target's head.

Anyone else playing this game with the absolute minimal HUD?

It never showed up once for me... lol. And yeah, it sucked.
I think I'm done there anyway now that I have cleared Jupiter and have a base in Prypiat. Running al the way to Rostok a few times did suck. I'll have a guide just take me to Rostok and back for trading purposes. Loot whoring is going well, I have over a mil credits. Going a lil negative having to repair and trade with no rep traders. But with the slow bleed I think that should get me thru the end game if I continue to loot everything in sight. Got a few dozen atrifacts and collection of other items in my stash that probably worth that much too.

One of the traders in Yaniv was able to get me ammo for the gauss rifle. Had a side mission to get the rifle that is still hanging.. think it's bugged too. I was lucky enough to score one off a Monolith guy who attacked Yaniv while I was there.

I just looked at the mission list and damn, I am not even halfway through the game. wtf.

It's much larger than I expected as well. My only advise is to take your time and if you start feeling tired then take a break. Don't force it or try to get through it in a hurry. It will just lower the entertainment you get out of it. I'm at 150 hours and I'm still further out from the end than I thought I was a week ago. I'm playing on the hardest difficulty with no mods though and it is very slow progression wise. I'm content to just explore and explore with no story goal in mind.

Named weapons, anyone usem? I've got a stack in my stash and I've used just a few through the game. Some have special mods but there is really no way to know if the named version will be better overall without going through the expense of upgrading it fully.

Now that I'm in Prypiat I have acquired named versions of 3 of 4 weapons I carry on me.

I am reaching fatigue level with this game. I just
killed Faust
and thinking that was the end but now am being pointed to a spot across the map to once again traverse with no base near it. 85 hours and I think I am going to shelve it for now. The fun and excitement of exploring and finding new equipment has been replaced by slogging back and forth all over the map. I may come back to it as I still give the game a solid 8/10.

Get the mods I spoke of. Very important if you want to enjoy the game.

It is not unlimited stamina - it is still limited but it expires in 4x the time compared to default. Means you can travel 4x farther for the most part.

Man, that's "maybe?" halfway... lol. You have quite a way to go still...

Wow really?? I cannot believe how long this game is lol
I completed it around 90 hours I believe, and that was with a good amount of exploring. The trick is not to treat it like a looting simulator... lol. I would gather what I needed on mission and sell when complete (never going over my carry limit). Sometimes I was just in a mood to explore and those nights I would just do stashes and sell stuff. Was a decent balance where I never felt burdened by carrying stuff or having to loot during missions constantly. Once I found some decent guns and a good suit, other than repairs and upgrades, I did not spend much time thinking about it and the game was easy enough.

Currently at 155 hours and I just entered Prypiat last week. Game has a boatload of content. I stand by my initial recommendation to treat the main storyline as a side quest and do all the side quests & explore. They will eventually force you back to the main at some point anyway.

IMHO the main storyline is weaksauce and not worth the cutscenes with horrible voice acting.

155 damn. I think I am at the 20-25 hour mark and going back to chemical plant since I picked Ward.
