S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chernobyl

The most hilarious and infuriating thing just happened to me. I was in Slag Heap and saw a video claiming you can get the best armor and sniper early on in the game. I was like OK, might be worth a shot without actually looking at wtf I was getting into. Took me about 45 mins to go back to the maintenance area after pontoon bridge only to find out that the armor you get is the one I was wearing. Motherf...

Glad I have a save game (I think) back at Garbage - otherwise, this would've been a more frustrating experience. Also I think I give up. I am going to load up the sprint, weight and repair cost mods. I can't take this anymore. Hopefully I can also find a weight limit increase mod but this is really destroying my happiness.
Honestly, I ended up with so much money after a while I just started to fast travel everywhere and a good suit will hold 129kg ~ 140kg.

I haven’t been exploring and going from objective to objective so the guns I have suck ass. I guess I need to explore more

100%, the game is kind of built this way. Go off course for a little bit, there is some amazing loot. If you do not want to waste too much time, simply look up online where the best stashes are and go for those and just aim for upgrading the best suit and weapon(s) you can find. Most the stashes I'd simply bring back to sell though, but a few had some good weapons and suits. Once i had what I wanted, the stuff I gathered from stashes I would sell to upkeep and upgrade my chosen loadout for rest the game (until I got the diamond exo-suit late game and switched to that).

My biggest problem with the game is speed. I usually play games very fast and this whole sprint and encumbered bullshit is unnecessary slowing me down. It is not even a good slow down with fire fights. It is literally watching the counter count down to my next objective with nothing really happening around me. It sucks ass and is a complete time waste. For a person who watches movies/series at 1.5 x speed, this is torture. lol.

WTH is this 126.7GB Radioactive patch?

I am siding with the wards for now. They just took over slag heap. Seemed like the right thing to do than have bandits run the place. Especially after the betrayal that I faced.
Fuck the Ward, all my homies hate the Ward.

:D

Patch notes:

Devs really need to consider making the game easier to patch so you don't need to download the entire game again.
It's only downloading 13 GB, but it'll usually show the size of the files that they need to modify. So sometimes that can take awhile.

Example: It says this after you update:

But the game is actually still only ~150 GB.

Anyway...

Hopefully this fixes some of the crashes I've been getting.

The problem with the game's economy is that if you get the "good" weapons and suits "too soon", you'll go bankrupt trying to keep them repaired.

Was hoping for another large patch. But this seems to fix some of the critical performance issues. Will probably wait until they do some more gameplay balancing/A-Life features. The original games were not that hard, and it seems like this one is more tedious with the economy. Never had any issues getting all the good gear without excessive grinding the 3 original 3 games. CoP was the best out of the box though, and IMO the only one truly good from the get go. First game was amazing but was clearly rushed but mods made it much better.

73 hours and 148 deaths into this game, and I FINALLY found a Whirlwind artifact so I can complete the quest for Warlock. Lol. Damn I love this game.

The artifact quests are ridiculous. I’m happy to run around with the detector out and go after them when they’re around but I’m not going to spend hours farming them.

I didn't know stashes carry over. I was so worried about lugging my shit around from one camp to the next. Need to head to the sawmill next. Sometimes, I just shoot people who are not expecting me to shoot them. Are there repercussions of these decisions. I use a silenced pistol and ensure that no one around is looking or left alive after? Make sense?

Yes. I wasn’t welcome in the Rookie Village for some time as I must have at some earlier point hit a loner. They would smoke me on sight and it was quite annoying. I slept for several in-game days, waited through a few emissions and completed a side quest for a loner outside the village. One of these things reset my reputation there so I was finally able to enter Sidorovich’s bunker and complete his quests.

I found a Kharod but as of now no one can upgrade it (or my Saiga). I just finished up the mirror quest, when do I find someone that can trick this thing out?

Tech in Yaniv, the main quest will take you there but you can go early iirc.

Hit wild island. Gotta go to noontide. Glad I gots the badge and stuff. Need to upgrade my inventory and crap pronto but no one around thus far.

Something about this latest patch messed up my graphics, DLSS looks like crap now. Not sure what happened, I was using the DLSS 4 DLL and the correct preset, but after the patch there was a noticable change. I made sure the settings were correct post-patch as well.

It sounds like they're dropping an official patch soon, so hopefully that's fixes it.

You can also update the NVIDIA app since they added DLSS Override settings. You shouldn't need to manually update the DLL files anymore, though I've read that the Overrides are not compatible with all games.

It does not even work for compatible games for me, always says "Not Supported" in the app. I have updated my drivers twice and the app 3 times... still broke AF for me for some reason.

Well that sucks then. I am going to some other place now. I have no coupons and am still on 80 KG armor. It is sad af. I also didn't install any mods so just getting around is painful.

Performance in wild island onwards really tanks so I am back to using DLSS and frame gen. Guess will have to live with a bit of artifacts but it was falling below 60 fps which made the janky game janky af game.

Just installed an inductor and now going somewhere. I am not really following the story just doing the motions as most of the time I am encumbered and can’t run worth shit. I need a trader pronto.

Finally hit a train yard and got better armor. For some reason when I go to Icarus the idiots keep shooting me even though I have the ward badge. Apparently it’s a bug and I need to go through another entrance. Well guess what bitches, I am now going back to Noontide to find Faust agent. Fuckers. So many bugs in this game pissing me off.

I even cheated to get an armor because I couldn’t be arsed to find the code for it so I googled it. Fuck this game. I like it so much I have to put up with this shit.

Random thought...I am 80 hours in and finally think I am going to use a mod for stamina. I really don't think it will change gameplay much to be able to sprint from place to place. I like having to set out on an adventure and travel by foot but doing so with the constant sprint/walk is making the game drag a bit.

Actually I just installed the following mods

- sprint 4x
- no weight for ammo and food stuff etc
- free repairs

And well this is a game I can play. The constant walking at snail pace and encumbered bullshit was annoying. I didn’t use anything else (like free upgrades etc.) because that would be like God mode. So I still have to earn my keep and upgrade shit myself. It’s so much better as the above just cuts away boring dead time.

Wow, the game just feels so much better with these simple mods. I hate it when devs try to overcomplicate stuff without reason. The sprint, weight and repair mechanics are just bullshit and all they needed to do were tweak them a bit. It adds absolutely nothing to the gameplay.

I very much disagree with that. Having to choose what gear to take with you is part of the challenge. If you're struggling to move because you're lugging a ton of junk around with you, or struggling to pay for repairs because you're using the most expensive weapons all the time, it's entirely self-inflicted. Learn to let go and you will see that it's not the game that's overcomplicating stuff.

Well I am playing fine now. I am not using any guides except once or twice for a code to a stash. Most of the time, I am exploring and doing side missions. Sometimes I am doing main quest. All of which is organic. I am not lugging around a lot of weight. Typically have 4 weapons now instead of the two I was carrying earlier. But mostly I stick to 2 weapons and if I die, on reload, swap out the 2 I want.

As for disagreement, nothing wrong with that. People can like different things. For me these 3 mods are a must have to make this a worthwhile endeavor. Most important is the sprint mod as that just changes the game completely. Without sprint the game is a pain in the ass. I did play first 17 hours without mods so I have a good handle on the game. But I need to value my time right now.

It's not so much a challenge as padding to make you have to hit up a trader over and over, because you can't carry much, but you also don't get much money from quests, and typically you end up using all of that money up on repairs from doing said quest.

I get what you're saying, but I do think the game severely needs some rebalance. Even GAMMA, which is a hardcore standalone mod pack of the previous games, is not as tedious as this, and that one is *designed* to be harder than the base games.
