S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chernobyl

What is your setup just curious my z690 with DDR4 always crashed until my current Z790 I picked up early this year. Using 13700k with Hyperthreading disabled for cooler temps on air. 4080 RTX Also had a problem with a certain controller cord crashing games so I stuck with Xbox OEM cords. Not all USBC cords are the same.
Full setup is in siggy, 5800x3d, 32GB DDR4 and 3080TI. OS and games run off WD Black NVME SSD's. Crashes seem very rando, I've gotten used to hitting f5 but have gotten caught without a recent save a few times.

I finally got the Weird Water last night to increase carry limit... downside is you walk around like you are drunk when using it. Was not aware of that side effect before heading out to grab it.

Filling my stash foot locker in the first area.. toting all that trash to a new stash does not look like it's going to be fun.

Picked up an 840 off a corpse last night. I was able to repair but for some reason the tech is unable to do any upgrades?

I've been told mordhau is better but I've yet to try either one even though I'm sure I'd like them.
Chiv has better gameplay and is easier to pick up. Hard to master though. Plus it's $2.50 on steam atm. Just dumb fun. Try it. It has been my favorite game this year.

Yeah, I got it for free awhile back, mordhau too I think :). I'll try both!

What weapons are everyone using? I have a fully upgraded akm-74s w an extended (45) mag and I am finding it hard to deviate from that. I know it's an early game weapon but still seems to be doing the job and I am almost 30hours in. I have found just about every weapon you can I think. I tried the Vintar but the mag is just too small (10). I have one called sofmod that seem to be worth a lot of money but can't really see why as it does less damage but does have more penetration. My secondary is the cracker shotgun also upgraded. It's very effective vs the mutants especially the tough ones that disappear. Have two different sniper rifles and they are just sitting in my stash right now. Wondering if I am missing out.
Been running most of this since like 12 hours into the game... lol. Just been upgrading the suit and weapons along the way. I equip the sniper in place of the shotgun during gun battles. Just bought the second suit you see in my inventory, will upgrade that as well and give it a shot, but so far, looks like I'll be keeping with what I have been using for forever now and it will just go into my stash. Really enjoy this game.

For those that have finished I am wondering how far I am from the end?
I just retrieved the scanner from the swamp area.

Killed my first Teddy Ruxpin in a raincoat (Burer) last night unexpectedly. Was making the run back from finally locating and snagging a SEVA-I suit. Lil turkey was guarding a box with an extended mag for a rifle I don't own or use.. I was like.. that's it?? Another spawned almost immediately after I killed the first. I took Sir Robin's strat and ran away. Found the Riemann rifle on the same run. Don't know yet if it's a suitable replacement for my tricked out akm-74s primary, ammo seems a lil more scarce even tho I have plenty on hand. I almost never have difficulty locating standard ammo for the AK. AP rounds a bit more rare but that's a rule for all AP ammo in game it seems. Need to make the run to Rostock and get some upgrades.

Chemical plant is still a mystery. I ran back to the area to clear out all the stashes. Guard won't let me in the front gate, but I can talk and trade with him. If I go to the North gate I can walk in but once inside a group of guards in a warehouse start shooting at me and the entire base tries to light me up... again I did the Sir Robin retreat. It's either bugged or I need another mission to get access.

Game still crashes out more than I'd like and there seems to be no common thread as to whether or not it will get past the shader compile at launch... crapshoot there. 26 hours in and no regrets. With all the missives the game is still a hoot.

The guard at the Chemical plant should offer you a mission to retrieve an artifact off of his dead comrade, after getting it, you should be approached by a scientist and after that you should be allowed into the plant.

It took awhile for the mission to appear for me, but a blue icon will appear above the guards head after he denies you entry when he moves to the side of the gate.

Did the side mission and retrieved the artifact for the guard already. Never got follow up quest.

The scientists should of been in the tunnel right before you go back to the guard, standing over a dead body with another soldier. He might have gotten killed or something, if you have a save from before you retrieved the artifact, I would try to do it again.

The Scientist asks you for the artifact and offers you money for it, if you tell him that there is nothing special about the soldier, he will tell you to keep the artifact and give you another mission to throw the dead soldier into the anomaly where you found the artifact.

Are you undervolting? I've seen a few people disable their GPU and/or CPU undervolts, and dramatically decrease Stalker 2 crashing. Curve Optimizer counts as undervolting!
I don't believe so, but I'll check that. Thanks!

Some areas just seem to trigger it as well. Rostok crashes habitually. Get out of that place and the crashes are far less frequent. Dang game is using 20+ Gig of system memory.

I'm loving this game and all the exploring, have 50 hours in it and from what I can see, maybe 50% through the story.... but man, I am soooooo close to getting a stamina mod for this game. Slowing down so fast when I'm still green for weight is just making things drag on a bit too long for my liking....

Wait till you get a Diamond Exo that you can't even run in even though it has a 17KG weight mod :ROFLMAO:

Spent time getting the wonder water to increase carry weight, also mitigates rads so that's nice too. Some upgrades to armor help carry weight as well.

Been avoiding Rostok and the crashes are lessened. Sucks as the trader there takes red weapons.

Having a difficult time keeping up with the repair bills. AI soldiers can hit you a mile off with a pistol b4 they even have LOS, one of my biggest in game gripes.

Constant hemorrhaging of blood from everything under the sun makes me think Skif has hemophilia. Just got the hypercube so hopefully that helps.

Do most of my travels in daylight if possible. Running around with flashlight due to lack of ANY night vision sucks.

About 40 hours in.. still having fun despite having to work around the crashes. Have not made it to Wild Island yet.. still doing side missions, getting stashes and upgrades.

Yes! I just left SIRCA and have a ton a of shit I am trying to get back to a base 1 km away and I can't drop anything because I need to sell it to pay for the f'ing repairs! Ugh...LOVE the game but the repair costs/weight/endurance could definitely use some tweaking.

I have two and a half mods going all the time just as a quality of life improvement. I'm counting one mod as a half because I initially thought that it was a minor compromise between the affomentioned QoL and original game balance, namely the ability to sell broken equipment to vendors.
The two mods that have enabled me to enjoy playing for so long allow me to get anything repaired for free(there's different price ratios so I could feel less like I'm cheating.) and a mod to disable item weight for food, ammo, and first aid.

Ironically I needed to share that in order to get a weight off my chest because I get the feeling that some of you go all out with certain kinds of games.

Anyways I finished the CIRCCA missions and y'all weren't kidding about the half life vibes.
I can't for the life of me follow the story though.
I didn't even know Skif's deal besides maybe having an apartment in dire need of a new roof.
Luckily? I got a lore dump from an NPC who must have missed a casting call for a modern Wolfenstein villain.

It's psychologically hard to leave loot behind, but most of it isn't worth its weight. Dump it, and then go artifact hunting if you need cash. Also, you can temporarily use a scavenged weapon against weak enemies to save repairs on your expensive personal kit.

STALKER games have never been good for the story. STALKER 2 is worse in that regard because not only does it have a convoluted story, but you also need to know what happened in the previous games (which you probably won't remember even if you played them).

For guns, I definitely agree with you but if you find a suit you feel compelled to keep those!

As a professional loot goblin, I say "No loot left behind!"

Looting life is all about maxing out suit slots with weight adjusting artifacts. As far as I'm concerned, I'm roleplaying.

I'll even go so far as to shove a bunch of loot into a stash just to make the trip back a second (or third) time to haul it all back to sell. Maximum lootage!

In the original's Misery and Anomaly mods, you could buy a portable stash with a gps. Those were really cool. Can't wait until we get that level of modding in this game.

I do the same but man my stash was LOADED with gear and ammo, all the named weapons right up to the point of no return mission. I stupidly didn't create a full save file right beforehand so its basically all just gone.

...so I started a new game lol.

You can upgrade it to enable sprint.
Yeah I found that out about 4hrs ago when I got to Yaniv, and was able to upgrade that and the Ram 2 finally.

I've had it since I was around the 50hr mark, I'm at 96 now and the ability to not able to sprint really hurt me so many times, but I had so much shit on me after getting the Diamond that if I switched to any other suit, I was always around 18KG or more over weight and red zoned instantly.

And me being a looting fiend "with always room for one more" attitude, I just dealt with the cons of not being able to sprint just to make the pros worthwhile so I could keep all my new shiny things. I also carry a second Exo too cuz I can. :p

Fully kitted out, the Diamond Exo is one bad ass mofo.

Hello fellow loot whores.. lol. Hate leaving items behind as well. But with the current memory bug when dealing with traders & inventory I've been avoiding places except to repair... and I'm in and out fast as I can. Been collecting artifacts, gun & suit upgrades. Just grabbed the SAIGA-D and sewn on pockets for my suit. Need to farm some loot to get my new shottie upgraded.

Wandered about a bit last night with the sniper rifle, does not seem to be worth the increased carry weight at this point. With teh Ai spotting you a mile off it seems more effective for me to close fast and burn them down with one of my other weapons.

Up to 42 hours now.. hope next patch fixes memory leaks.

Respect to you sir! That is a badass set up. Also I have not found out what to do with this.

The shottie is a sledgehammer up close and personal.. can't wait to get some mods on it.

Almost cannot remember where I picked up that collar. At least that lil doohickey in the upper left lets you know its for an assignment. A bit more detail would really be nice there. I've likely tossed items I still need.

And on the OCD comment above.. I feel ya. Be really nice if the game would STOP FREAKIN SHUFFELING MY INVENTORY!!! I like keeping the top couple of rows organized with items I equip every time I go out so I can easily see how many of each of those Items I have and adjust my weight to be under 50 when I head out. The constant shuffling and me having to reorg (especially with the inventory memory bug) is really annoying.

Wait to you get the Ram-2 Shotgun, best one in the game.
The collars are for a side mission, you have to kill a couple mutants that have those collars on and deliver them to a scientist that is babysitting the scientist that makes his own vodka.
