S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chernobyl

That's more like it. Was peaking at about 1 GB/s.

Dang another patch today. I have to admit, 3 patches this quickly I did not expect. Gotta give them props on dropping them ASAP.

Just need that AI life to get fixed.
Apparently it was left out because of performance issues. Given how bad performance actually is without it...oof.

What res are you playing at that you get such bad performance?
1440p. It's okay out in the wild, but in town it's terrible. Armenius was saying it's due to the AI, but if that's true the A-Life is going to destroy the game.

I'm playing at the same res and in town I'm dropping to the 80's, rarely in the 70's. 123fps avg in the wild.
Is that 3080 current?

I'm using over 11GB of VRAM on a 4070 Super at max settings, except for motion blur.
I wonder if it could be a VRAM issue since you only have 10GB (if it's current)?
Since your CPU should be faster than mine, even though I'm running it 6x @ 5Ghz and 2x @ 5.1Ghz.

The worse town I could think of was the slag heap and it did suck around there, especially after an emission.
But there all different depending on location and area.

A-Life is in the game, they just neutered it as a last minute gamble to improve the game's performance. If you read the article I posted GSC goes on to explain that the removal of the A-Life description from the Steam store page was due to a misunderstanding in the marketing team, not that it was removed from the game.

Knowing how CPU bound the game is. I can report with the 9800x3d I get around 55+ fps in towns at 1440p Epic. I have heard that Stalker does love DDR5 and above? But thats just what a read, saw no evidence otherwise.

Finally had some time to play this someone said on Steam there is no progression just Gear and Gear Upgrades so I keep that in mind.
But if you consider the Story Progression and getting more currency that is ok I guess.
Yeah I’m actually enjoying the story. Guess I’m just old and like the style of stalker.

Still enjoying the game a lot.. I think I have like 25 hours into it now.. they still haven't fixed the invert Y axis thing, though. I have to set that with each game restart.

Usually VRAM limitation causes a massive performance drop in general, this isn't that. But it's definitely down in the 30s or maybe 20s in town, it's quite bad.

Well hopefully one of these new patches that are coming our way soon, can have you sorted out. :)

Those of you playing this might be interested in this mod for the missing A life feature

You could just link directly to the mod, especially since the link in that article is buried in the fourth paragraph.

https://www.nexusmods.com/stalker2heartofchornobyl/mods/446?tab=description

And again, A-Life isn't missing. The description of this mod describes it is modifying how it works, not that it is adding anything to the game.

I've noticed that every time it rains now, the sound of it comes and goes intermittently, like something is interfering with the overlapping audio over the normal ambient noise.
It can also happen in a middle of a battle if it's raining as well.

I thought that I had a short in one of my speakers or one of my channels on my sound card were taking a shit, but the ambient sound track is still there through it all, and I realized it happens with all of my speakers.

I can't be sure if it was from the second patch or the third. Any one else experiencing this?

Can you sell Broken guns or should you just drop them? I read you can fix them in the upgrade shop but not sure if it's worth it.

I just experienced this last night.

I gave up playing because the AI is just so dogshit. I’ll come back when it’s patched. The game has good bones and it’s impressive, but the way enemies spawn in is just silly.

There is one vendor that buys broken guns but usually it’s not worth hauling around unless it’s a good one.

Yeah the spawning is really bad.

So let this cook in the kitchen and play BG3 instead? I can only stomach one RPG at a time.

I've got 90 hours in and I think this is going to take 200 hours to complete everything. I ran into a quest bug that required luring some mutants into the rookie base to lure some enemies out of a building that had locked doors in order to complete the quest. Other than that I have had no problems. I made it to Rostok and I'm having a good time. Steam reviews have popped up since the initial patches were released and I haven't had a single crash since. Game is sitting at 84% very positive on Steam. Game is a solid 85% in my book and will jump up to 90% if they improve the Alife system.

Looks like Russia has been trying to hurt the game developers for years now and are continuing to do so. https://www.techspot.com/news/10580...on-campaign-claims-stalker-2-used-locate.html

Is this game worth to buy if i like shooting only and eye candy graphics, or skip it and wait for doom age?

I had some weird flashing texture issues before the last patch. But nothing since

25+ hours in and I freaking love it. Long time Stalker player than missed the last couple. Might have to go play them now.

No real repeating issues, and I left the game running for 16+ hours on Saturday. 12th gen I7 / 32Gb / 4080S @ 3440x1440 ~100FPS

Did you guys have any issues with the Sawmill quest?

I get there and nothing happens, then the game teleports me into the barn with the door closed and there's 3 guys just standing there and no way to get out.

I loaded an older save and played for a few hours avoiding it, but when I went back the same thing happened.

None at all.

I didn’t have a problem there, but wait till you get to the Zalyssia quest, buggiest shit you’ll ever see and unimproved by any of the patches thus far.
