S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chernobyl

That doesn't really matter for UE5 as this is exactly what nanite and Lumen are perfect for, so regardless of distance, the performance remains consistent, which is why early UE5 games that were just corridor shooters etc ran poorly as devs got matured with the engine.

Does it? I know nanite should allow much more detail and less LoD levels, though I would still assume a flat map would still perform better than a dense one. The main difference being previously lots of LoD would be needed and certain things would simply not be possible at all due to tanking the frame rates.

You can test it yourself in any game, or one of the UE5 forest demos that can be downloaded, the performance is the same from far away as it is close up, and those demos don't have any real optimisation either. GSC have stated they did a lot of optimising for RAM and CPU utilisation in their version of UE5 here.

We've been here before with every other game in the series. I'm just happy to finally get back into Stalker and the Zone. I could care less about the steep requirements as long as the game is true to the Stalker experience I'm golden!

That will be interesting to see then. I don't think I have played a UE5 that has used nanite yet.

For a game that doesn't look all that breathtaking but rather depressing pretty high system requirements. I think Metro series looks better but I'll see where the reviews land.

I have a feeling it will look better in real time without Youtube compression. It does have a more realistic look to it which is nice.

Looking into this game found that it uses Unreal 5....Might pick this up depending on Reviews. Review embargo is 2 hours before the game releases.

If by console you mean crappy huge UI God i hope not

I heard a rumor though that all the bloodsuckers are non-binary and lecture you about misgendering them before they kill you. And there's a new faction of trans bandits.

Joke!

that and at last minute the graphics get downgraded to look like garbage, no FOV slider and FOV stuck at like 60, can't rebind controls, etc.

Yes, even for a game appealing, i'm not buying it until I have read real player feedback
It probably makes sense to wait at least 1-3 months for patches as well. I'm pretty sure it's gonna need them.
If it's anything like the last 3, patches are going to be a for sure thing before it's "playable", and may need more than 3 months worth.
But it would be nice to be wrong, especially since it seems to have kept all the prior Stalker attributes that made the others great.

GSC really does stick to their guns with working on problems. I hope they do continue that trend with fierceness. Less Bethesda/Ubisoft & more of the old CD Projekt RED (before the sudden recent changes they've done).

I would tend to agree with you but I'm not sure if Clear Sky ever got fixed though to level of SoC & CoP.

not a good sign that there's not even a hint of when the review embargo lifts...plus early reports indicate that the Xbox version is a mess...I'm going away for Thanksgiving for 10 days so I'll see what condition the game is in when I return from the Zone

More recent videos I've seen look better.

Maybe not quite as good but it will be hard to tell on Youtube with compression. It is a dark game with a realistic look, and blacks/shadows and whatnot tend to get hit the worst in compressed videos. Other things are important like draw distance and if this is using nanite that may produce some impressive results. But I'm sure we'll see some nice reviews for this as well as performance.

this is assuming they are not cheating putting an xbox logo on pc footage, looking at the first comments not sure if the channels (and that made the tumbnail with the icon) made the gameplay footage themselve or just stole it.

No one in all that Q&A asked about coop? Maybe a mod somewhere down the road. This game would be incredible with 4 player coop.

Stalker call of pripyat is the only game to date that really scared me out of my chair. Hoping this one does the same.

Only a few games scared me never played the original. If this game has F.E.A.R vibes but with Metro graphics I'm in. Hoping a few reviews leak today. Partial controller support isn't good I hope the inventory is controller friendly.

The review embargo for Doom (2016) was the release date for the game, and it was universally praised.
