S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chernobyl

I expected this. I assume November they will finally release it, for better or worse even if it ends up being like Cyberpunk at launch. But I can even see yet another delay pushing this to December or 2025.

I don't mind the delay as August has two big games I'm looking forward to- Black Myth: Wukong and Star Wars Outlaws...will give me more time to build my new system and play a lot of the recent games

GOG page up.

Standard Edition $59.99
Deluxe Edition $79.99
Ultimate Edition $109.99

the Season Pass with access to 2 story DLC's is only available with the Ultimate Edition?...they should make it available with the Deluxe Edition as well...that means $50 extra for the Ultimate Edition meaning $25 for each DLC...no real savings...I'll probably just get the Standard Edition and buy the DLC individually when they are released

The fact that they have season pass and DLCs has just put this very far down on my list of game to buy.

I love Stalker, and have since the original. But now this game has moved to my "below $20" list, solely as a result of this.

yes I would imagine that the choice or "$20" is based on a gut feeling and not some super thought list of reasons.... we are talking about buying games, it will be arbitrary.

I purchased Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat after Shadow of Chernobyl and I figure I will pay full price for these two expansion DLCs as well. Weather you wait or buy a season pass probably doesn't matter. Maybe it will save you $10 with the season pass but it's no big deal. I do think the extra mission and digital extras are there just to cover the fact that the full finished game is $70 now. Which is becomingly more common on consoles. At least it's not $130 like UBI does for far less ground breaking titles. I hear the game world is 60 kilometers with no loading screens. They nailed the atmosphere which is unique to this game world alone and the sound is pretty great from what I have heard. I just hope the AI for human enemies is challenging and the game runs decent. I won't be shocked if it's buggy like the original game. All ambitious projects are. These days even garbage games are unfinished though so it will probably get the usual thrashing from gamers who are tired of paying to beta test. In this case I'm more tolerant just like I was with the original game but here is to hoping it turns out well. Maybe UE5 will help with these problems. These pre order packages have been known and available on steam for 3 years now so it's nothing new to me. I'm looking forward to finally playing it in 3 months.

how come when Ubisoft makes a Star Wars Outlaws mission a pre-order exclusive the usual people get in an uproar but when GSC makes a side mission exclusive to the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions no one says anything?

Probably because UBI charges $100 instead of $80 dollars but I agree that I don't like the practice and would rather have the extra mission included in the base game for a set amount. Personally, I like the idea of having the base game with no BS attached and then a season pass that you can buy with the game or choose to buy as it releases when you are better informed. If people get a small discount for buying the season pass with the game then that is a decent reward for taking the risk of buying something before it's been properly reviewed.

I commented on the fact that they have DLC and additional crap in the first place, and was told it is arbitrary.

Clearly its not acceptable to do anything but praise GSC and stalker now, gotta suck that Ukranian dev cock, amirite?

If you guys are wondering where the outrage at missions and DLC gated behind the Ultimate editions is... the same place all the outage over micro-transactions, NFTs, removed russion localization and Chernobyl Chornobyl is: Russian language forums, discords and r/stalker.

To be honest, the relatively civil and sane tone here is refreshing.

As someone that rarely goes far in game I start, if those extra quest type of business model would become the norm I think I would prefer it....

as long that it mean lower entry point for the game compensated for game you really enjoy turning out really expensive (like that $110 price tag), but if I enjoy a game that much to want side quest and other expansion... would not mind ended paying a lot for it over the years (that like sequels in a way), that would be one of the cheapest per hours played still, versus all the game I bought in my life and barely played.

Some info from the longer trailer:

Due to the branching nature of some story beats, a player can't actually see every mission, meet every character, or discover every location in one playthrough. Subsequent experiences with the game will be needed for even the most diehard completionists.

Not really liking that. Unless the story choice matter in a good, impactful way that doesn't feel forced. In almost every game I've played with branching missions/story, it ends up being unnecessarily forcing the player into a lame this content or that content selection, or just making us replay 85% of the same thing to play the last 15% of the content. There is little chance I'll spend that much time redoing the same things for a few hours of extra content when I can play a new game or two. Add in post release story DLC which will probably take a year or more to come out. Typically I see locked story content as a lame way to increase hour time as a marketing point.

Hopefully there will be a mod that just allows you via a console command to start extra missions/locations whenever.

you can just save the game at various points to see the alternate content

* Assuming there is a good save system and you know when to save. I do this for games like Fallout every now and then. Reload to save points to play alternate endings or missions.

If you name your saves accordingly you can know which save is associated with which plot point.

I guess i'll give my 1 or 2 cents, not that it's worth it. I'm getting older, in my 50's and still going strong on othe PC video game front. Most my friends my age have decreased or stopped playing all together, but I still love it. STALKER is one of those special few games that I do consider an elite single player experience. I remember how hard (and yeah buggy) on my first play through, but lord was it good. Top 10 PC FPS in my opinion.

Yes, i'm going to purchase this game. Will my rig run it? Probably not, but i'll give it a try. Reading through this forum and finding out there may be some additional story only on a "deluxe" version of the game is ridiculous. I don't like this structure and it's extremely annoying. Will I lose sleep over this , nah, but man do I miss the ol' days of PC gaming....

Yeah STALKER the original also ranks among my best moments gaming, those underground levels, very intense. It's like a horror game.
Yep. So many memorable experiences in that game. Can't wait to see what they've got cooked up for us this time.

With all the content lately I am getting hyped in spite of all the drama and delays.

Literally the only game I am looking forward to in the coming months. The Agroprom level had me so tense that I had to take breaks every 5 minutes just to get through the level.
