The product pages of the upcoming AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D and Ryzen 7 7800X3D "Zen 4" processors went online, which say that the two chips are unlocked for overclocking. This normally implies that the processor has an unlocked base-clock multiplier, which makes it easy to overclock.

Product pages on amd.com:

Interested to know how this will end up when they are out.

Edit: Seems like AMD removed the unlocked for overclocking info from the pages and also the release date.

I still think it's going to be limited to what every overclocking you can do without modifying the voltage, but I would be more than happy to be wrong on that front and hope that I am. Not because I would tweak it like that but because it should be an option for people who want to.

Though thinking about it AMD could make it so you can do all the full overclocking on the regular CCX while more tightly controlling what you can do on the stacked one, either way, the chips are gonna be interesting and weird so I am all for that can't wait for reviews.

The 7800x3d has 1 CCX.

Doubt I'll bother, but it's nice to know that it'll be an option if I feel like trying it down the line. So far these sound great on paper. I just hope there aren't a bunch of caveats.

But it turns out it isn't an option and they updated the site to remove the Unlocked message from the site shortly after the story went up.

LOL, just like they removed the February 14th release date? So those pages are apparently not to be trusted at all?

Well I mean the site is probably operated by somebody who AMD pays minimum wage in India and each of those pages is a form, they probably just copied and pasted the non-X3D forms of the same name, renamed them accordingly then didn't uncheck a box. Look for the cheapest labor and get the cheapest labor.

Note:
This is not a dig against tech workers in India, just how absurdly cheap AMD is with many of their services, there is a lot of absolutely great tech companies operating there but they aren't cheap, but they do get the job done absurdly fast.

Wait. You actually trusted AMD? Word to the wise, never trust a corporation. o_O
Exactly this.

The 7900XTX performance lies, the 4070ti being 3x faster than a 3090ti.......All marketing bullshit. Always wait for honest unbiased reviews.

Noticed how no one other than Hardware Unboxed got a 13900KS CPU to review? Yeah they didn't want people to review it lol

I think there's a bit of a difference between vague performance claims and a release date or technical specification.

i never even saw this mythical Feb 14th date... just Feb 2023(not 23rd like i was corrected on)
It wasn't up for long. It went up on a weekend and was gone first thing on Monday morning when dozens of tech sites posted it as news. I lean in the direction Lakados mentioned - they likely have random web guys updating their site and they're tossing things up without much of a second thought...and then a tech site jumps on it and makes it a news story.
