I am looking to finally upgrade my aging 2500K to a 3600. Waiting for Mobo reviews and performance comparisons between the 470 and new 570 boards but memory kits I have no clue. I keep hearing Samsung Die Bs chips are great, but I figure I start gathering a some parts now before NAND prices spike.

Looking for 16GB kit with 2 8GB sticks

-Budget Friendly with O/Cing in mind on the 3600
-Middle ground with good speeds and tighter timings
-High End Kit High speeds and tightest timings

One other questions. Do current gen Zens handle 4 dimms without a derogation in performance. I suspect I would jump to 32GB in the future.

Thanks

I just got a Samsung B-die 3200 which should do 3600 easily for $110 cad. It's a corsair vengeance lpx.

Look for v4.31 on the sticker.

I too am upgrading from a 2500k finally! pumped!

I sent a pm I have some b die G Skill Flare X 3200 that I am sure is also capable of 3600.

Can’t go wrong with any b die

^ *IN GENERAL*, high bandwidth/low CAS latency will mean b-die.

3200 - C16 is most common, C14 use b-die
3600 - C18 is most common, C16 use b-die

I also don't think you can find b-die on 16GB DIMMs.

Crucial Ballistix Sport AT are Micron E-die which is pretty darn good at overclocking and a lot cheaper than B-die

I dunno what chips they use, but Patriot Viper Steel are well priced for the speeds.

If you want budget/bang for buck, G. Skill Sniper 3600mhz is a heck of a deal.

For the sport AT's are they 3200 speed?

My thought pattern goes along the way where if you are on a budget don't go above 3600 rating(unless you can get a kit that is something that ticks all the boxes but on Zen 2 37xx is the max for 1:1 memory/speed) and then decide if you need low latency or not.
The trick where you end up with 4 slots used could be something that would not work out well. I would suggest you look at some motherboard ram QVL (X470) and find out how many of the current boards do support higher frequency kits with 4 slots.
If that feature is common then you can go ahead with your purchase and should not get problems.

That's e-die.
My 64gb 4x16gb kits work fine.....now.

not a single 2x16GB kit in 3600/CL16 on sale in my country :D
Ship it in then lol.
Same thing happens often in mine, limited stocks and usually more mainstream stuff.

Don't overlook Hynix CJR and Micron, both are beating B die in some categories with the latter beating it across the board.

I bet they'll charge a premium for 3733, so would go 3600 as it's widely available. Get 2x dual rank 16Gb sticks for 32Gb and call it a day.

Sherloc09 had some awesome results with cheap CJR

That's what I have sitting here. Looking forward to trying it out. I got 2x16GB for $143 shipped after taxes. Even if it's not "the best" it certainly is a good bang for the buck if I can tighten the timings a little.

Nice! I'm waiting to see if any T-topology mobos will come out then that determines if I go 64gb or 32gb.
Either way will be looking to see what you do with that ram on Zen 2. Best bang for buck ram I've seen so far.

Well I got a goo deal on some nice Low Latency B-Die 2x8GB from a [H] member. I guess when the time comes I will just get a new 16x2 Kit in the future but currently for my work loads 16 is more then enough.

What about LT models? Are they e-die also? I've had my eye on the 15-16-16 3000mhz but dont know what die rev they are

I don't know.

I think all recent shipments of Crucial's 3200mhz CL16 Ballistix Sport are E-die. I know the Sport AT are. *looks like Guru 3D's Sport LT 3200 kit was E-die. The 3000mhz seems like it may also be.

So I want 2x16GB sticks and would like to run them at 3733 for a 1:1 ratio with Infinity Fabric. What's my best bet? Doesn't have to be bang for the buck, I'm more concerned with the best performance, compatibility/stability. RGB would be a plus but not a must.

These should be Micron E-Die. 3733 isn't garunteed, but from what I've seen, 3600 pretty much is. And some of them go faster. And Ryzen usually likes E-die. I believe MSI has some of the Ballistix Sports on most of their QVL lists.

otherwise, I would probably try these G.Skill Sniper and see if they can be tweaked.

There's also this G.Skill, which may or may not be a better bin of the same chips?---for more money.

these may also be E-die, but I don't know

Due to how low these timings are, these may be pretty nice chips. These may be 16GB versions of B-die. but Hexus.net couldn't get their review kit to clock up to 3600mhz

After that, you are looking at $100+ more dollars to buy 16GB sticks which come stock with higher speeds.

Waiting to see what becomes available in 2x32GB kits, hopefully in 3600/16 or 3733/17 for a 'reasonable' price; will probably be going for a G.Skill Trident Z Neo kit, which is supposedly 'designed for' Ryzen 3000-series CPUs...?

How many lifetimes do you plan on waiting? I don’t see that happening. Ever

Anyone have any idea if these are Micron E die like the LT ones that have the red heatspreaders? The E die listed abovr just says "cas 16" under timings, while these days 16-18-18 which is what most Hynix based Mdie kits (like I have now in 16GB is) https://www.newegg.com/ballistix-32gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820164103?item=N82E16820164103

This kit is $17 more, which is about the same price as the Red 3 die mentioned above"s price before the $26 discount the red ones currently have.

I would like to get a black, white, grey colored kit that can hopefully do 3600 with decent timings without paying a ton.

I'm afraid to wait to buy a kit since if the reviews show 3600+ makes a big difference with Zen2 you will the prices on these skyrocket overnight by $30-50+ like b die was when 3200c14 was all the rage.

I just need more then 16GB of ram, and want to keep it to 2 DIMMS since the x470 board I have is not T topology but Daisy chained like most.

Actually just realized both of those kits are rated at 3200 16-18-18 which makes the price difference that much more baffling unless one is Hynix and the other Samsung d/e die or Micron E die.

I miss the days of just being able to buy ram and it work super easy.

Aside from any info on the kits above, any 3600 kit that isn't going to break the bank would appreciate a mention.

For some reason the kit with two sticks is way more than buying individual

G.Skill Sniper is the bang for buck 3600 right now and I hear it plays nice with Ryzen
https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-32gb...r&cm_re=g_skill_sniper-_-20-232-741-_-Product

I'd imagine they are charging a bit more for the guaranteed matched pair. In the past that has mattered a good deal, while at other times it did not matter at all.

What do you think these? 3600 with much tighter timings (16-18-18) outta the box vs the G.Skill Snipers (19-20-x) for $5 more... https://www.newegg.com/ballistix-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820164149?item=N82E16820164149.

Edit: I was half asleep when I added that kit to my list abd just now saw it is a 2x8GB vs 2x16GB which makes the Sniper much more attractive.
