RT-n56u Issue ~ Random short disconnects

This problem STARTED when I began using the rt-n56u asus black diamond router.

My internet will have episodes of being down for 20-30 seconds, and when I look at the Internet Status section in the settings for the router, the DNS section is blank, or the WAN IP and Gateway are 0.0.0.0.

Very frustrating when it happens. It will do this 5-6 times in an hour, and randomly stop, and start hours later or days later.

does your internet connection use PPPoE?

Oftentimes a firmware upgrade cured the problem for me with consumer routers. At the same time those cheap modems I lease from my provider are just as flaky as your router. I've yet to hear of others having similar issues with your model router, however, users have had issues with early firmware.

I'm using an automatic connection.

Not sure what modem I have, I'll check and update.

Your modem will have an IP you can get to and it will have logs. That's what your ISP typically looks at to diagnose problems. Google your router make/model and see if the logs have anything interesting to say.
