router updating software question

it seems my router software needs to be updated has some kinda security issue or main thing like windows not sure. Never done this before and cant get thru to anyone helping me online thru tech support. Yes or no and how to do it yourself plz help!
 
Typically, you just go to your router support page, download the latest firmware (make sure it is the right one) and save it somewhere in your computer. Somewhere in your router GUI, there should be a place where you can update your firmware. Browse for your downloaded firmware and load it into the router. That should be it.
