Controller seems better, and I'm a pretty much against using controllers for anything.

I've been playing online recently and find it to be one of the most frustrating games ever for me because of how bad I am. On the flip side, it's very rewarding to do a bunch of practice drills and then go into a game and play measurably better.

Yeah you definitely want to play with a controller. It gives you the kind of control you really need in a game like this.
