I'm having trouble finding active robotics communities online and was wonder if anyone here knew of any active/large communities available.

Is anyone here into robotics? Do the words handyboard and differential steering catch your attention?

There's really not much discussion in this subforum about robotics per se. I seem to remember someone asking a very similar question a few months ago, though--see if a search can't turn up anything.

FIRST is a robotics competition aimed mostly at school kids and adult mentors, they start with lego robotics, move up to slightly larger VEX kits, then full size robotics competitions weilding 120 lb 5foot tall robots. Its a very active community worldwide if you're interested, and theres still plenty for you adults if you're not still in school.

My companies actually sponsering a high school for this, I was asked to help out but was given to short of notice for the massive amounts of time commitment it takes. Looking through what they've got, what they did last year, etc. it all seems like very interesting stuff.

My company and a few others are sponsering the same team... each team has like 6 weeks to complete the project so it's a pretty intense period, if you have any robotics knowledge, mechanics experience, welding experience, or anything like that, I'm sure you could walk in and volunteer to help out a team.
