Roblox 'Gang Rape' Shocks Mother

No, but I have been teabagged in online games.

Sounds like someone does not watch pornhub ?

Shame on you.

You have truly missed an excellent experience, being tbag’d by your monitor whilst watching some cam whore get her tits out for you for $4.50 a minute.

It really is worth the money.

I play this game with my 10yo kid quite a bit. I think it's boring, but she loves it. She mostly uses it as online hangout space for her school friends.

Having played it and read the article, I'm taking the headline with a grain of salt.

I kinda need a picture or video to put this into context. my kids play roblox sometimes. Roblox is a platform for mini-games/mods. Shooter games, a fortnite knockoff, car games, obstacle courses, city/house builder, restaurant building, job simulators, etc. So... this could be anything. Could be as bad as the article makes it sound, could be nothing.

I agree with that. It could be horrible, or even misinterpreted by the mother, or could be nothing. It's not like it's going to be some graphic depiction, but even then, if it was me, I don't want the sick little fucks acting out like that against my kid, especially many on one. Mineplex is similar, it's Minecraft at its base, but has a bunch of mini-games built on top of it like this. The people on there though typically seem to be pretty tame. A little goofy and moronic maybe, but so far, nothing horrible.

How could it possibly be horrible? Funny, stupid, annoying...sure. But horrible? It's a game.

Maybe it's just me, but blocky game or even merely words, gang-rape and seven year old, (involving internet randomites or anyone else for that matter) don't go together for me. Is that hard to compute for you? Are you just a general troll, or really that screwed in the head? I take it you don't have a seven year old daughter, and hopefully you never will.

I find you being upset over graphical blocks moving in close proximity and seeing it as a remotely believable representation of gang rape to be highly disturbing and hope no kid has to suffer from that imagination.

It wouldn't bother me if I was playing. I would simply say "fucktards" and move on. A bunch of player controlled characters dancing around a young kid saying "we're gang raping you" is something else entirely. I hope no kid has to suffer your presence.

I actually have a fairly dark sense of humor, but it doesn't extend to this particular avenue, because it just really isn't funny.

Yes, blame the mean people on the Internet, not your parenting failures.

I don't know much of anything about the game, but how is it you "gang rape" someone in a childrens game? I am actually curious as I doubt the are "sex" type dance or emote motions.

In any game where you can build stuff to any design, there will always be a penis somewhere. Possibly....more than one

That doesn't bother me a bit. I'd giggle at that with my kids. I mean, it wouldn't be my first choice to stick in front of the younger ones, but to me, that's not even remotely the same thing. Penis away for all I care.

That's just it. I'm arguing against a certain sentiment here. Whether or not the game can actually depict something like that is something else. I guess what bothers me is a bunch of who-knows-how-olds ganging up on a little girl, and telling her that's what they're doing. How that's ok to anyone is beyond me. Whether you can create a disturbingly real depiction in Roblox is kinda beside the point for me. If it wasn't Roblox it would be something else. In reality shitty people are all over the place, and aren't going away, so on one hand kids need to learn to deal with it, ignore it, etc. to some degree. Still doesn't make it cool though.

You'd giggle at penises in front of your kids, but mean words from boxes hurt you. Interesting.

You seem unable to differentiate who is the target here, or even the spirit in which these two different sorts of things were done. First, we aren't talking about me. I'm not the target. A little girl is.

Second, drawing a penis, is usually a light-hearted silly joke. Sure, the level of tasteful/less-ness of it will vary, and like I said, it wouldn't be my first choice to put in front of my kid. However, in and of itself, it's not really cruel, malicious, or depicting a fairly horrific crime.

I'm still puzzled by how that doesn't make sense to someone, but whatever.

One of my kids plays minecraft and constantly is killing all the animals.....i wonder where the morality in this world went.

On a more serious note, you don't have to police and hover over the kids non-stop, but you should be readily involved in what they are doing and seeing on the internet. Even if you think is innocent, it can be twisted to be something sick very easily.

I've seen tons of youtube videos that kids watch where it starts out all cute an innocent of kids playing minecraft or roblox or whatever, and all of a sudden its absolute mayhem whith all these idiots screaming at the top of their lungs, killing and shooting each other, and then cursing at each other or using some slang, and of course kids think its hilarious....and they tell me about it, and I'm thinking, that's not funny....that's not funny at all!

I had to curtail those very videos. Most didn't really have anything that I consider bad, (though some were borderline) they were just so fucking obnoxious, that I didn't want even a touch of that rubbing off. I've seen some obnoxious people in my time, but I was actually surprised by those Minecraft based videos. The people in them border on the loosest definition of human IMO. Either that, or I don't want to be lumped into the same species.

Also, your child is a budding serial killer. :p I actually get on my daughter's case when she culls her flocks of whatever animal it happens to be. She's attempting to get the right numbers, or distribute them, but I always give her shit for killing them.

I don't have this issue, but I can empathize. Your reading comprehension is nil. I've said things like "I wouldn't want this to happen to my kid" and "this would piss me off". It's clear to me that it's just not worth me talking to you any further.

Have dug around some it sounds like they where picking up the girl’s avatar, throughing her to the ground and would then start to jump on her. When she would get up to run away again they would quickly grab her and through her down again.

That juicy piece of meat on her dinner plate is fine, though.

I love how it's always news to someone that there is adult content on the internet.

Well nothing new there, even though it’s not exactly adult content in this case. It’s yet another unsurprising thing about the internet. A bunch of shitty people ganging up on a little girl. Surprising? No. Shitty? Yes. It’s how things are, but still shitty. I guess just how adult it is, depends on the discussion happening at the time creating the context. It’s precisely why the ESRB can’t rate the online experience. The shitty human factor.

If there is no context, and the game allows combat, then there’s not much wrong other than people ganging up on someone. It’s quite likely the mother or publication just read more into this. It’s just as likely some fucked up 50 year old orchestrated it, and everyone was talking about gang-rape while doing this, which isn’t cool IMO. Online games present this entire spectrum of things from simple goof-ballery to fucking sick. In most cases we just ignore it or mute it or play something else or on another server. Kinda sucks if it’s a little girl just trying to play a game though.

Maybe you're the one that should unplug the keyboard and go outside.

First of all, don't be a smartass with me, find a fool to do that with; we're talking online gaming here, real people being anonymous, with all that entails; not Commodore like you mentioned. Or Spectrum, or PacMan. We're talking a seriously different league.
Now if you think it's O.K. for a child to play online games, i can also see why you'd have no issue with the way montu is reporting this. Or why you'd mind my way of criticising all this. Or my expanding on it.. unless you happen to think we all act like you folks act over there? Hardly, be assured.

As to my unplugging the keyboard, no need to be honest. I see my posts deleted, i get the idea :)

people, it's BBC. which is nearly completely filled with bias, nefarious agendas, doubletalk and government boot licking these days. oh, and they love to blow up any news story with any mention of sex.

do not pass judgement until another reputable site reports this with greater depth

Hell, I heard about it on the local news yesterday, it's out there.

Edit: I agree with the thought on BBC though...

If you search Roblox gang rape you can find news stories all over the place along with the woman’s Facebook post. Here screenshots don’t really show much over than one pick where a male character is laying down facing up, her daughter’s character being forced to lay down face down on him so that it appears she is sucking him off with the male character holding her head down. Another character is standing behind her.

Do your kids watch YouTube? I find that they tend to go with the games their favorite YouTubers are also playing. My niece was playing Minecraft and asking for a book on making mods for it then just dropped it all at once for roblox.

Unfortunately multiplayer on either of those games is almost always plagued by some bad apple with a mouth from hell, so I had started her a private server on minecraft and played with her. I don't know as much about roblox to relate. The draw is definitely youtube pressure and multiplayer, this is the new socialization for kids...
They do watch YouTube. When they played Minecraft, they used to watch a guy named Stampy (I think). He was annoying, but his content was clean and he did teach the kids stuff about Minecraft and give them some ideas.
I don't think they follow anyone for Roblox. It seems like every kids in their schools are playing it - some guys lets you build stuff, others are like a terrible FPS (seriously kids - you have Steam and have a few real choices!). They do play games with their friends - it's the new way to hang out.

I had a talk with my kids yesterday about what happened on Roblox. I didn't go into details, basically told them there is bad stuff on the internet and they need to tell mom & dad if they come across it. I very vaguely described what happened on Roblox (basically jsut told them there might be avatars with no clothes doing stuff they shouldn't be) - they both looked mortified and thought it was stupid.
I monitor what web sites they visit and we have a policy that lets us access any of their accounts at any time. I haven't found anything bad from them at all yet. Of course, when I was a teenager, I hid my tracks and was way more tech savvy than my parents. (Different times - not much porn on the C64. However, I probably found every bit of it that existed :) ).

helicopter parents.
my kids are going to be watching porn by 4th grade, like i did.
Give them early exposure and teach them how to adapt. Same with bullies.

I like this idea.

Also agree with you getting them drunk for the first time under your own supervision at home.

And get them drunk to the point of a hang over so they know what its like and what liquor can do to you.

The issue really is that regardless what the skin is (in this case the game roblox), anything that has an open world chat feature will be abused, and subject literally anyone to mature content.

More on your point though, the term gang rape is being sensationalized here, as actual rape requires physical sexual assault, and in this case, the perpetrators were just using profanity and adult language, which as far as I'm aware, isn't gang rape.

My kids, 9 and 5, love this game. I have caught the 9 year old tea bagging people in Halo. He doesn't know what it means though. I'll admit I didn't either when people first did it to me in Counter-Strike years ago.

Has anyone actually SEEN this yet? Or are we all just taking it on faith... I very seriously doubt characters were performing actual sexual acts. My guess is they all stood around in a circle and said things while teabagging the ground and this is all blow way out of proportion... kind of like the internet always does.

There is no video so no, nobody has seen that. There are the pictures on here Facebook page. Like i explained above it appears like he is forcing her to give him a blow job while they are laying down.

This is the picture the mom posted.

According to her story, they where doing stuff like this and then as soon as her daughter got up they would throw her down again and start up again.

On one hand, this is not newsworthy. On the other hand, some creeps were doing this to an actual little girl's avatar online.
