I just filled out the RMA form for PNY and hopefully I can get my now dead (RIP 6800 Ultra) replaced sooner rather then later because using this MX4000 with a 2405FPW is BRUTAL.

anyways, anyone have any experiences with PNY and RMAs?

a) They're fast.
b) They're sticklers for paperwork (e.g., receipts)
c) If they say they need to replace a card with a different model, make sure you check the benchmarks before you approve the exchange. They replaced my GF4Ti4400 with an FX5600 256MB (non-Ultra) a few years ago. That was a big step down.

I'm never buying another PNY myself; they won't exchange my 6800NU. It crashes/freezes/stutters on nVidia's own GF6 demos, among other places, but they claim that it "doesn't affect real gameplay experience."

any way they can beat you out of a RMA they will do it . PNY sucks on any type of warrenty or service. just totally horrid .

do yourself a favor NEVER buy anything PNY unless you consider it disposable . the warrenty it ain't hardly worth the paper it's written on.

I'll remember this when buying future video cards.... which i might have to if PNY screws me out of a warranty replacement :(

i rma'd a gf4 ti4200 through pny not long ago, and it wasnt that bad, though the replacement card i got was bent, and i had to email/call to get that fixed, but overall it was pretty painless.

just wait untill your trying to rma something that is worth $200+ and see what they do--there has been talk about some kind of class action .

But if I want a FX4400, and rule out PNY, who else sells it and has been good and reputable?

Ive had several pny's and never had issue with them. ti200,ti4600,6800 ultra and currently 7800gt. They are plain jane refrence cards but they have always worked fine never had one die on me. Just alot of hardware snobs on these boards anything compusa sells alot act like its crap.

Read my post above. I've had two PNY cards, and they've both acted up. My Ti4400 was an Alienware pull, and it had bad RAM- nothing to do with CompUSA. My current card was a Black Friday Special, but it didn't suffer from the infamous capacitor issue. It just seems to skip on random graphics sequences, regardless of chipset/motherboard/hardware.

Not saying yours didnt. And as far as the orignal question about pny and rma I should state I cannot comment on that since Ive never needed to do so. What I have read on tons of post though is yes PNY sucks for rma.

I've never had a problem with them, and since they almost always use the reference PCB (with a color change to black that is ;) ) and the reference cooler, your guaranteed that it was what nVidia/ATi intended.

I've only had to RMA two of their cards, both of witch were bought in a store (Best Buy for the first and CompUSA for the second :p ) and not ordered online. I’ve never had a problem from the cards I ordered online.

RMA was painless; you just have to keep the receipt! I just keep the box my motherboard came in and toss all my softwear/drivers/recepts in that.

BTW, the 6600GT I’m using now is from PNY.

i did it once for my 6800gt which caught on fire once... I called them and they told me what i needed to send in and they replaced it within less than a week

last year I send my 6800gt back and they send me one very fast like 1 week
