Rivatuner fan speed problems

I just downloaded and installed the newest nvidia drivers 177.83 and everything installed fine. Then I installed rivatuner and set all my fan profiles and launcher tasks and noticed that my fan speed was set at 61% so I went into the fan settings and set the speed to 50% but the fan speed didn't do anything. I also tried setting the fan speed higher and it still didn't respond to that. I opened up the low-level fan setting and tried to set the fan duty cycle to 50% or 80% but it keeps setting itself back to 61% for some reason. I tried everything to set the fan speed lower or higher and nothing seems to work .

Has anybody run into this type of problem and is there anyway to fix this?

Oh and I am using rivatuner 2.09 and have a gtx 280.
 
Start windows.
Start rivatuner manually. exit out of rivatuner altogether manually.
Restart rivatuner manually. Should work.

If that doesnt work, you may need to reload all your values again.
I loaded the newest drivers last night to check out the physx and my riva worked just fine. I think something glitched when you loaded the new drivers.
