Anyone playing this instead of Fallout 4? I'm about an hour and a half in and it's fantastic so far.

I am hoping I will get this today. I was supposed to get it 2 days ago but the guy went out of stock.

I went ahead and bought this. I need my Lara now and it was $32 at Target.

They say the PC version won't be out until April.

I played up to entering the first tomb at the beginning, or about half an hour, before needing to get ready for work. I'm really excited to continue playing. The opening was tense and exciting, and managed to do it without a single QTE. I selected "Tomb Raider" difficulty (Normal), but I want to start over on "Survivor" when I get home tonight to get the full experience of the redesigned and updated systems. I can't get over how weird Lara looks this time, though... It looks like she got a little doughy since the last game (not as much upper body muscle tone and "chipmunk" cheeks).

I got an e-mail saying that the shipment of my Fallout 4 Pipboy Edition was delayed, so I'm going to play this as much as I can before that comes :D.

I am downloading it but doesn't unlock for me until the 13th. Damn EU nonsense even though I am not even in Europe.

Why is your Microsoft account tied to an EU address if you're not in the EU? Military?

They've definitely added more tombs to explore but the tombs aren't all that difficult yet. They're still fun but very easy.

I really enjoyed the last one, but I'm going to be patient. I've got enough other things to play right now, and I'd much rather have this on PC.

I'm pleased to see the positive reception though. It gives me something to look forward to.

No I moved my Microsoft account to UAE which is where I live. But all release dates are same as Europe.

Side rant: Steam changed pricing of games to my currency (DHS) and now Fallout 4 costs 82 dollars instead of 60 dollars. I fucking hate this shit.

Similarly, on PS4 the games cost 73 bucks instead of 60.

Ill pick it up if it comes out on PS3. Liked the last one(doing a playthrough again right now in fact);

There is no PS3 version. I think you meant PS4 and that version is a year later. PC is in April so that is why I just picked it up on the XBONER.

I just about made it to the large hub area in the game. It's definitely a lot of fun. I like the survival aspects they added. It adds so much depth to the game. It is actually now useful to hunt wildlife and scavenge for things in the environment. The leveling and upgrade system is also more robust and meaningful. Exotic animals exist in the world, which you have to kill and loot to gain materials for crafting larger bags for carrying ammo and resources. One of the more interesting additions, in my opinion, is a new system in place with which Lara has to level up her languages by reading documents and murals to decrypt messages that lead to rewards. These include Greek, Russian and Mongolian.

I'm still pretty early in the game, but the encounters with the AI I've had so far are also more rewarding. This isn't Gears of War-style shooting galleries like the first game. You have more stealth options available, being able to hide in trees and bushes with the ability to stealth kill from these areas. Once an enemy becomes aware of your presence, but hasn't seen you, they start searching hiding spots. I even noticed they were tracing footsteps in the snow. Once enemies spot you fights are much more dynamic than hiding behind a piece of cover, waiting for enemies to peek out. Enemies will move from cover to cover trying to close distance or even flank you.

I've only noticed framerate issues in the cutscenes, of all places, so far. During actual gameplay the game seems to run pretty stable to me. The game doesn't use motion blur or depth of field to obscene levels, which was probably done to have a better framerate, but the side effect is the game looks pretty good despite the relatively low quality textures and models. Like most console games, most of the deficiencies in the graphics departments are covered up by exaggerated HDR, lens flare, and sun glare, though.

If you can't wait for the PC version and have an XBONE, I think it's worth the money to get it now.

I see. I don't understand why they can't just release something at the same time globally.

Game looks really good and I really enjoyed the last one. However I'm also in the PC camp. Unless something is a full-on console exclusive, I can wait a few months for 1080p/60 with the details up.

They havent confirmed no ps3 yet, its releaseing for 360 so I have hope

Game looks great, but I'm waiting for it to go on sale digitally during black friday or christmas.

Wow this game is fantastic. They have improved every aspect of the game and it looks beautiful. Already 10% done. Highly recommended.

I'd probably buy the 360 version, were it not for the fact Microsoft bribed the developer to keep the game off Windows for a period of time. Can't support that b.s.

Great, now you have be tempted to get it even though I do not have a lot of time to game. :D I have the XBox One and enjoy it daily for almost 2 years now.

DPI: No one cares, just do not buy it then. This is the Console gaming section, deal with it.

Can't wait to play it! Im just now playing TR 2013 that I got from a recent steam sale. Hadn't played a TR since anniversary I think before this one. What a difference! Loving the game so far.

Only concern I have with Rise will be that I'll probably need a new video card. My current card can still run the 2013 game on ultra but I doubt it will be able to do the same for this one.

I think Crystal Dynamics will learn from their mistake of releasing this on a single platform.
This is such a great game and I can't wait to replay on PC.

I just beat Tomb Raider 2013 on the PC Saturday. Fought with myself for a few hours about buying the sequel on the xbone because I wanted more.

Ultimately I caved in and bought a physical copy so I could get my fix. I'll sell it or trade it in once I can get the game on the PC.

For now, though.. this is one of the best looking games I've ever seen. It is just absolutely gorgeous and I love the changes to the crafting and the exploration. (optional Tombs more rewarding, ingredients for crafting, ammo types, etc.).

Can't wait to play more when I get home.

is this the best looking Xbox One title?...better then Ryse Son of Rome from a purely graphics perspective?

I caved and bought an Xbox One just for this game.

$350 isn't too bad for a 1TB Xbox One, Tomb Raider 2013, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and an extra controller.

I can probably make most of that back by selling it once I'm done.

you realize it's coming to PC in a few months right (and PS4 later down the road)?...I could understand buying a console for 1 game (I did it myself for Bloodborne PS4) but Rise of the Tomb Raider is not an Xbox One exclusive

What can I say, I really like Tomb Raider. The sooner I can get my hands on it the better. I will also be buying it for PC once it releases.

The game has been selling like shit but they supposedly green lighted Tomb Raider 3 already, so whatever. One thing I want to point out about this is that it's one of the few games that feels like it was actually written and directed by adults, not retarded children. There's no cringe worthy dialogue or over the top cutscenes.

The only thing I think they fucked up on was the Konstantin boss fight; it was just way too personal. It would have made more sense if:

Konstantin killed Lara's father. Although he did stab and almost kill Jonah.

I just started playing this game tonight.. Damn it's good so far. Amazing graphics as well, possibly the best looking human faces (well, Lara's at least) I've seen.

Damn spoilers.....

I bought an Xbox one just for this game and it'll be here on Wednesday...

I actually find it a bit jarring to have Lara look all hot tits with her wavy hairs and then character next to her has traditional hair. It shows lack of polish and consistency.

It's the Xbox One. You can't expect that much from it when it comes to the hair physics. The Witcher 3 did the same thing on the PC.

I also picked this up as part of an Xbone bundle over the weekend and really like what I've seen so far. The first TR reboot was one of my favorite games to come out in the last few years, and this one is starting out really nicely.

This is the first console I've owned in over 10 years, and I'm really impressed by the visuals, and although I'm still getting used to using a controller again, I'm really enjoying the gameplay.
