this is for winxp.

Sometimes when I right click on one of the drives (c: or d: from "my computer) the desktop freezes up then I get an error message. It doesn't bluescreen me, but it gives me the error message and "resets" the desktop.

Weird thing is that I can get to the disk properties through the admin tools on the control panel just fine. I only have the crashing when I right click on a disk icon through "my computer".

I did the usual (scan for viruses, spyware, etc.) with no luck. The fact that it only happens sometimes makes it even weirder. The hard drives act normally all other times, so I don't think it's a failing hard drive.

I also reinstalled the 4-1 VIA drivers, hoping it would be the ide drivers, with no luck.

Any ideas on what is going on?

The error message would be helpful. ;)
Is it the "Explorer has encountered an error and needs to be shutdown" message, or something different?
Also, do you have any network drives? A little more info would help.
