We have a Ricoh eCabinet 2100 (1u rack) version 3.0.7 which runs off of FreeBSD release 4.6 build 5. Since Ricoh has stopped manufacturing these units, best thing they ever did - stopping making these, support has been lackluster at best. Our unit has recently crashed and we're rebuilding the Verity database now but it takes approx 5 days to do a disaster recovery (reads existing data off of a Snap Server 2200). The interface we have access to is a website it generates via Apache; however it doesn't really give us much to work with. Ricoh isn't giving us the local logon information so we can't really get to the heart of the system. What we'd like to do is put the system on better hardware (eCabinet system is a PIII 800 with 256MB RAM and two HDDs and an LCD with UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT/ENTER/CANCEL buttons) but during the install, on another server, the installation freaks out because it can't find the LCD with nav buttons. So the questions are:

1.) is there any way to figure out what the local logon credentials are?
2.) is there a way to remove the installation scripts that reference the LCD so we can use a full keyboard and let it run on a modern server? I have the installation CD at my disposal.

3.) Does anyone have any experience with an eCabinet?
