If you buy a 4 pin the last pin is simply empty, but it still works. For digital you need a 3 pin connector, many boards use 4 pin (2 pin, skip, pin). Our boards support 5V and 12V via jumper so no worries there. For just normal RGB the light strips are a dime a dozen on amazon.
