For some reason I sure thought this guy was going to get a lot more time than he did. Hell, he should have got 10 years in the slammer just for having that stupid haircut. Thanks to cageymaru for the link.

On Wednesday, Hunter Moore was sentenced to two and a half years in prison by a federal district judge in Los Angeles, California. He will also be subject to three years of supervised release afterwards, and must pay a $2,000 fine.

I did enjoy some of it. If some sloot is dumb enough to get her O-ring blown out on film and then gets it thrown on the internet I have little remorse. I don't put women on a pedestal. If he had not hacked emails to get some of his content, he would not be in jail. I am fine with people posting videos of themselves or their ex, permission or no. I am not cool with him hacking private email accounts to do it. The courts seemed to agree.

Pro tip: Do not take any video, or picture that you would not want your mom to see. This is the digital age, once it is out there, it's out there.

While I do believe that revenge porn is wrong, at the same time, I don't feel sorry for anyone who allows anything to be filmed today that they wouldn't want to get out on the web. There has to be accountability for the situations that we allow ourselves to part take in, and it is hard for me to give passes to people who allow themselves to be taken advantage of by douchebags. In my experience, just about every douche I've ever met had some fairly straightforward indicators within a few interactions.

As a slowly recovering "nice guy" -- i hate to back him up but he's right.

I tried the nice perfect boyfriend route... I thought she was the one, I was nice/affectionate/caring and would have done anything in the world. Two weeks after I helped her recover from complete thyroid removal surgery, she dumped me via facebook.

She's a locally famous news caster here in N. Texas and I know a tonnnnnnnn of shit that could get her to lose her job due to all the morality clauses in her contract with the news station.


Building on what smity said -- it's true, they want to go out party, fuck tons of guys, and when they realize their looks are fading, or they want to play housewife, they go find some sucker to latch onto and convince him they love him. Nothing will change your perspective more on women than finding out someone you loved viewed you as nothing more than a temporary bandaid and had no problem throwing you in the trash.

I'll be 34 next year and odds are I'll never be married and have a family because by this time most of the women who aren't crazy and who actually have their shit together are long gone off the market. I'd rather be alone than settle for a sexy con artist .

For the sake of all of us who enjoy sexy photos and videos of our partners, kindly pack in the "I don't feel sorry for someone who allowed themselves to be photographed" bullshit. Posting revenge porn is a sex crime. You either have someone's consent to post it or you don't.

He is very right lol. I'm 33 myself & recently married my girlfriend of 11 years. Growing up in the South Bronx, I was as big of a New York City jerk as they came. The girls that I was around at that time embraced who I was. Throw them a bit of booze & drugs & you could pretty much have your way with them. Yeah, that's just how some of us grew up in our late teens to early 20's. My wife knew the kind of guy I was but still was persistent in trying to win me over. Which she did. Still have no clue what she saw in me but she went to work & pretty much changed me completely from the guy I once was. It's amazing what a determined Asian girl can do lol.

For me, it's not "victim blaming." It's about empowering oneself with the attitude to prevent oneself from becoming the victim.

I came very close to being something of a "victim" of this type of crime. But thanks to my good senses and seemingly good (at least good in this case) common sense, I was able to avoid my privacy being compromised.

Here's a question: If you're not sure if you can trust the person with the camera, maybe you shouldn't let them film you in the first place? Like, maybe stop and think if what you're about to do is a good idea? How well do you really know Mr. Spielberg there and his Handycam?

Obviously it is a crime, but how many of these situations could have been avoided if the "victims" used better judgement in the first place? If I were in that situation, at the end of the day, once it was all said and done, it would be me and the mirror having a nice long reflection on what went down.

I have yet to meet any guy that has nudes of another woman and doesn't share them, without the lady's knowledge, with at least one person.
 
I looooove the tough guy act people put on to try to impress everyone else. It's sorta like watching dumb roosters fluff up their unimpressive plumage at one another when we all know most guys turn to a little puddle of putty goo around people of the opposite gender. I totally catch a little of that at work where certain guys put on this huge show of trash talking about their spouse, but are basically like the perfect mister submissive when you see them at a party with their wife or something. Or they play themselves off as these alpha male studs when nobody can actually find out how they're fat, sad old people in their mid to late 30s with a boring 9-5 job, a car they think is somehow different than the exact same model car that a bunch of other guys who think the same thing own, and the only thing they have in life is to stand around talking about "last night's game" with one another.

Keep posing with that plumage boys. It's funny because we all know you're just putting on the let's pretend act to show off. :D

On topic though, that's prolly an okay prison term for that guy. Even if what he did was bad stuff, we have people who are killing one another with guns and smoking pot that we need to put into a tiny cement room for their entire lives and as long as he has a criminal record that follows him around for the rest of his life, it's good enough for what he did. Though I still think that people who were convicted of a crime should have to wear like a visible marking on their body so we know who they are and can keep away from them since once someone is a criminal, there's basically no way they'll ever become a better person that isn't a risk to civilized society.

The pictures are taken while in the relationship and then posted for revenge after the breakup. Obviously the person trusted the person with the camera when the pictures were taken

Did you guys miss the fact this dude was hacking into people's accounts and posting their private stuff? Whether or not you feel revenge porn is good or bad, it's people's private stuff that has no business being on the internet unless the person who took the pictures posts it. If you defend the asshole who ran this revenge porn site and made money on it you deserve to have your private stuff being published online.
