I think I'm going to keep my big ass on the ground and leave this one to those of you with a Spider-Man fetish. :D

A team of researchers working at Stanford University has used prior research involving the means by which gecko's climb walls to create pads that allow a human to do very nearly the same thing.
 
Tom Cruise already did this.

I think this is a good idea for window cleaners of corporate buildings.

Those guys that got stuck recently all over the news. If they had these with them they could have just climbed down.
 
i think those researchers ought to have consulted with a professor of biokinematics.

is it just me or does that look like a very inefficient way to climb?

Just climbed down? As a person with a fear of heights I think would have just held onto the rail until it collapsed. Of course, these guys did not or else they would not have taken the job.
