refurbushed monitor die after 1 minute of use

my dads friend bought a refurbushed moniter and he said once he hooked it up it worked for 15 minutes and now dosent turn on anymore
iver herd of this problem befor but wasent sure what it was

Edit every time he turns on his computer the monitor it works for few seconds wile its booting but then goes right back into hibernation/sleep or something along the lines of that

and other monitors work with the computer

i have a other monitor that does the same thing

Could that be a refresh rate problem? If it shows stuff on the screen during post, but nothing going into windows where the monitor goes back into standby mode, I have found in the past that it is usually a refresh rate problem. Try booting in safe mode or vga logging mode and see if that gets you into windows with something on the screen.
