refurb 48 port poe gigabit switches, L3: $197

FYI

"The Ethernet Routing Switch 5520-48T-PWR Switch can supply power up to 15.4 W per port (with the addition of the Ethernet Routing Switch 15 PSU and RPSU module). Without Ethernet Routing Switch 15 Power Supply Unit (PSU), the Ethernet Routing Switch 5520-48T Switch would supply an average of 6.5 W per port (ports can exceed 6.5 W per port as long as the total of all ports requiring power does not exceed 320 W)."

great info, thanks! still seems like an absolute steal.... does this mean it will do 803.3at as long as it fits inside the budget? if so i can use it in even more locations, i've got a few intercom amps that need 802.3at...

way more power than needed for even 48 phones... at least the phones i'm using.... may not be enough for 48 ports worth of high powered wireless gear, lol

Avaya bought that part of the business. They still sell that switch model under Avaya's name.

:(

Oh well. I only need a handful of POE ports anyway...

yea, they went FAST, they had 45 quantity when i got the email this morning...

still a few of the 24 ports left... they had 95, now they're down to 15

Nortel seems to be bankrupt....

As others mentioned, Avaya bought Nortel's data and voice product lines and still sells some of the stuff under Avaya.

The Nortel ERS switches are decent, or at least I haven't seen anyone complain about the performance of the devices across at least 20+ VoIP installs.

The management interface on the other hand leaves a bit to be desired.

how does this compare to some other options off ebay like this

http://www.ebay.com/itm/D-Link-xSta...14?pt=US_Network_Switches&hash=item3386e93382

or this

My uses would be to power 6-10 POE cameras and then a bunch of gigabit network gear that DIDNT need the POE functionality

that last device isn't actually a network switch, it's a midspan.... first item is 100mbps (has 4 gige ports)... 2nd item :shrugs:

meh, while its not as good a deal as the 48 port, i likely dont need that many anyway

In for a nortel 24.

Wow, just what I was looking for: managed switch, PoE, and 24 ports. Grabbed one so thanks! Are all 24 ports PoE capable?

edit: looks like it is.

i had ended up putting a requisition in through work to get these, we ended up snagging 15 of the 24s and 9 of the 48s.... the only 2 things keeping this from being the perfect switch for us is that they'll probably be super loud (not a problem at most locations, but a few it might be bothersome, depending on just how loud they are) and the fact that they don't have at least a few 802.3at ports... but that last bit is literally for only a handful of devices.... across 24 switches i can't complain...

i'm going to have to buckle down and sort out the easiest way of configging these things for my uses... it seems like it'll definitely be worth the trouble....

now to get a hold of the newest avaya firmware for these suckers...

i JUST bought 2x 24 port netgears that have 100mbps poe ports and gig uplinks to save money... the price jump to gige and poe is enormous....

the kicker? i paid like $280 for those switches, and half the ports aren't even poe....

i'll probably end up sending them back at this point...

damn! I would have loved a 24 port poe switch for 127. that was indeed a steal.

their sales team is one dude. and he hasnt been in the office twice when ive called. Left messages.

Just got a tracking number also, and weights 20.8 pounds; expected to arrive this Friday.

Got my switch, packed well, looks to be in solid condition.

Reading through the manual now to learn the Nortel OS, seems pretty straightforward. Gonna be running a network of POE security cameras with this.

Everything running? No problems? POE works? About to get mine tomorrow for the same reasons. Time to stock up on Ubiquiti cameras.

still testing. It runs, im learning the config, I havent worked on nortel OS before.

Its pretty easy so far, im using the web interface after using the "easy config" button.

I have it on an isolated net right now, after i have it fully configed ill let it take over my main network and put a few POE cameras on it.

any more details on this. I need mine to push the full 15 across the POE (but only on 6 ports)

Do i need this?
