I've been put off buying a new mobile data-thing for years. I'm curious what the [H] people are recommending. I just want a parasitic remote host, so the performance can take a back seat most of the time. The most important details are:
If it can't be light, it better be tough. I've had an IBM thinkpad rip right through a backpack while biking. It survived at least, but the battery didn't. The smaller HP Elitebooks are about the "biggest" I'm considering right now for both size and performance. Rather expensive too considering I could buy 3 simple netbooks for the performance I would use.

What do you folks think?
- Longevity: Excellent battery, available for replacement, 6 hours minimum.
- Physical dimensions: Lightweight. 14 inch at the largest.
- Composition: As little plastic as possible. Nylon-graphite composites are okay, light metals are best.
