A friend of mine has an acer aspire with e2200 intel processor (2.2ghz dual core pentium core) and is trying to get the computer up and running for as cheap as possible. Which motherboard would you recommend now? He plans on building one in a year or so and giving this one to his Girl friend.

socket 775 i assume...still a few makers around

zotac is about as cheap as it gets..

foxconn is still cheap, but a bit better quality..

i wouldnt go nuts with overclock on either of them though...lol

gigabyte is even better quality, and still reasonably inexpensive

personally, id avoid bottom of the barrel and go for intel, msi, or gigbyte...a bit more expensive, but less like to explode when you turn it on...lol

newegg has a bunch of each

The key from the COA MIGHT work, but I think he'll need a new OS.
