Recommend A Video Card

I just built a new system and the only thing I'm missing is a video card.

SPECS:
Pentium D 920
945G + ICH7R Chipset
2GB DDR2 667
74Gb Raptor
550W Antec PSU

Thats all you guys should need.

The details of what I'm looking to do. I play at 1280X1024 and like some eye candy. Money isn't a problem but, I would rather spend less now and spend more for a DX10 card, so lets keep it around 200$ to 300$ the lower the better.
 
I was thinking about the 7900GT it just seems more than I need. I mostly play RTS and some FPS.
 
what games exactly? Well, maybe the 6800 then, if youre going to wait until dx10. Im not sure though.

I have one and play SW and Civ at max everything...

Thats probably a good compromise between the 7900GT and a 6xxx series card if you're not really looking to play FEAR at 1900x1200 and every setting on max. You should also be able to find it right in the middle of your price range, with a good fourty or fifty bucks to spare.
 
I found a couple of used 7800GT for 250$ on craigslist. If not I'm thinking a 7600GT for 200$. The 6800GS looks good but the 7600GT has better performance for only 20$ more.

Also I guess nobody wants to suggest an ATI card.
 
The 7900gt or x1800xt are in your price range. They already linked you to the 7900gt so here's the link to the x1800xt. Look around at different reviews and then decide based upon IQ, performance, and personal preference.
 
Since your're not playing games liek fear, battlefield2, or cod2 i suggest the 6800gs its cheap and itll handle the games you play at that resolution no problem. If you ever think your're gona play more graphic demanding games then i suggest the 7900gt. If not then the 6800gs,gt or possibly the 7800gt are all good cards to go. I suggest 6800gs with the games you play.
 
yeah I would suggest a 7600GT if you think a 7900GT is too much, also check classifieds on forums like these, ppl are looking to get rid of their 7800GTX's and 7800GT's for DIRT cheap
