Why do you keep cramming more disk onto that box. Why not get a 16 or 20 bay case like Norco 4020, add a cheap cpu and MB and build a NAS. All this should run you just over $400. You should have done this ages ago while your HD count grew.

Dont have space for it that is a 4U unit i thought about it + what would i do with my current antec case which is 149.99 ?

+ i dont know what kind of Controler i will need to get 20 Drives connected to

If i can find something that is not side ways then i can consider

Thanks

You don't have a closet where a 4U unit would fit? Couldn't you stack it with your Antec case on top? You will need to replace the fans of the norco case if it is going to be where humans or animals reside. You can use the onboard sata ports plus your existing sata controllers and you will need SFF8087 cables. You can get the cables for a few dollars on ebay. I am not sure of the cost on 16+ vertical towers but they do exist. If you must continue to attach drives to your antec system, sorry, I have not suggestion.

I built one of those up for my friend, it just takes any old mini itx (with pcie slot) and you have to provide a card and sas/sata cables. I used a supermicro AOC-USAS2-L8i software raid card. And he had drives to put in.

Its a bit of a pain to put together because its so small, (just a bit bigger than a synology 8 drive) but it is working great for him. The PSU is seasonic so its not some random wha fong daddy thats going to die on you in 2 weeks.

Hello

I am looking between NAS system or External Hard Drive Enclosure
the max i can spend is $550

I would love to buy Synology DS1513+ Network Storage for $ 800 USD but i dont have the money for it and i cant find older model of it

My next option was drobo 5n $550 more or less but one problem i read this http://www.macdrifte...nology-nas.html which indcate my hard drives will be not avilable on other systems which is big no no

so then my other options are USB 3.0 and eSATA i have 2 unit in mind both are 8 bay

first one is :
Mediasonic H82-SU3S2 ProBox 8 Bay
Mediasonic H82-SU3S2 3.5" Black USB3.0 & eSATA ProBox 8 Bay External Hard Drive Enclosure

Second Option is :
Rosewill RSV-S8 8-Bay
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16816132016

again my system is X64bit and it is AMD

Can someone advise me on which option will be better or if you guys know a unit that will work better that will be great

Thank you
