For those that have played RE8, would you recommend it for someone that has not gotten into it?

Also, would you recommend playing the earlier titles first?

I though it was a pretty damn good game. I do recommend you play 7 at the least before this.

I actually really enjoyed RE8, and if it was not for Returnal I probably would get the platinum trophy on it. I might actually go back to it if I have time between Returnal and Biomutant's release.

I have heard also that it is best to play RE 7. However, the continuity side of me would want to start at the beginning =). That is a big commitment when you have kids =).

I would definitely play RE7 before RE8. It's not really necessary to go through the rest of them, but you should eventually.

Just finished R.E. 7 for the first time and going right into R.E. Village now. I was told the stories connected, so i'm playing it accordingly.

I hope it's great, because I enjoyed part 7. New type of gameplay just for the First Person view perspective instead of the 3rd person we've come accustomed to.

Fantastic game. I had my reservations about a Resident Evil game in first person, (didn't play R7) but it works. So well in fact that walking through the castle gives me strong feelings of walking through the mansion in Resident Evil 1. Capcom should remake the first Resident Evil game again, in first person using this engine.

Buy it.

I wanted to try the demo, but the time limit meant I couldn't, as I was abroad during the short download window. And without that I'm not convinced enough to buy it.

I'm a RE fan, though I skipped RE6 since it looked like it jumped the shark for me. But I picked up RE7 a year or so after it launched since it had pretty good reception and I waited for a sale and really enjoyed that game, so picked up RE8 at launch. If you haven't played RE7 already, I'd say that's pretty much a requirement to play before RE8 since it's a direct sequel to its storyline and RE8 is basically just more of the same in a different settings (which is a good thing). I haven't beat it yet, but probably will this evening and I've really enjoyed it so far and would definitely recommend it if not now then as soon as it goes on sale. I agree with most of the reviews on it that have given it a 8/10 or so. I decided to play it on PS5 so my wife could watch since she watched me play RE7 on PS4, but also I like the Dual Sense haptic trigger gimmick on games that support it and wanted to play another game that supported it.

It's probably my 2nd favorite RE title after RE4. Like most others have mentioned, you'll get more out of this one if you've played RE7 first. It's a direct sequel to that one, and the gameplay style/controls are the same. Plus, RE7 is a good game, too. You don't need to have played the others.
The only downside of this one (RE7, too) is that subsequent playthroughs showcase that the game is a bit brief and linear.

That is common with all RE. They are not very long and most are easily beatable under 3 hours once you know what to do.

True, although 4, 5, and especially 6 were longer and less reliant on knowing what to do vs. actually being able to do it.

In less than 1 month, I went through 3 R.E. games. R.E. 5, 7 and now Village. They we're all my first playthroughs.
I was never really into survival horror before, but they have grown on me lately. Thinking of doing some Silent Hill after since I have 4 of them on Xbox 360.

Def worth picking to RE2 and 3 remakes as well then. Then prolly go to Dead Space 1 & 2 from there instead of SH if you happen to have those.

Evil Within 1 & 2 are decent. They have a good mix of gameplay features and are both quite good.

I also have both Evil Within games which I want to try also. So many games on the backlog list that are old as hell.

A little off topic, but how good is R.E. Revelations 1,2 and Racoon City?
I want to try it, but it doesn't look like you're conventional R.E. game we've come accustomed to. Racoon city looks and feels like a Gears of War.
