I got a gskill tridentz 3200mhz cl14, but bought another kit hyperx predator 4000mhz cl19. Which one is better? The Hyper X is $50 cheaper.

They both use the same b die ics and should run the same speeds and oc equally. The gskill have a lower stock xmp. While the hyperx have two xmp profiles, one is 3600 and the other is 4000.
Personally i would go with the hyperx but im biased. I have 2 sets.

if the chips are the same as he says^^ then i'd meet in the middle at 3600 or 3733 to get a balance of mhz vs cas

I am running 4x8GB 3200c14 B die at 3600c15 as my CPU memory controller doesn't like going higher.
But if you want to take the time to OC those kits will probably do 4000c17 with ~1.45v if the memory controller can handle it.

I dont think hyperX is b-die. that timing cant be of b-die.

I don't know as I don't have the sticks in front of me, but 4000Mhz Cas 19 is a popular Micron E-die speed/timing combo.

Its hard to believe but hynix has ics that will do ddr4 4000+ now. With very b die like timings(they are cheap to boot, $90 2x8). Woomak just did a review on the new hynix ics and they are incredible ocers. If i remember correctly its the v power brand or something color...i forget. One of the new brands. Ill link the review when im off my phone.
Anyhow the hyperx 4000s are b die but i dont know what the lower speeds are. There are definitely alternatives to b die now vs a year or 2 ago.

I saw a different review of the 3200Mhz RAM and it was Hynix. I don't buy into the B-die hype anymore, especially with Hynix prices so cheap comparatively. I got 2x16GB 3600Mhz running Cas 16 at $130. Much higher than 3600Mhz and you lose the 1:1 ratio with the infinity fabric with a Ryzen setup. I just don't see the value of a $200+ kit of memory right now.

The one that doesn't crash the system =)

I just upgraded from 2400hz to 3200hz crucial ballistic the older version.

I saw like no improvements for most games my Win OS is faster I can tell FPS wise a few were like 2 frames higher but some were lower. If you want to upgrade to that 4000hz Ram it's probably the only way your going to see real improvements . Then again I was just running in game Benchmarks and not playing the actually game where you might actually see more of an improvement.

I ran all the benchmarks yesterday again in game benchmarks and got like 2-3 FPS gains in like every test but at least my system is really snappy anyway.

Yeah high speed memory is mostly for tweaking and seeing what kind of crazy high ocs you can hit or super tight timings. Other than that and benching its definitely a want vs a need. As easy as cpu and gpu ocing has become i get more entertainment out of memory ocing now.

You will be GPU limited in average FPS and faster RAM only helps the CPU so gains will be much larger in CPU limited sections of gameplay.
These days you can get more performance out of overclocking RAM than overclocking the CPU and you don't have to spend a heap on extra cooling and power to do it just the time and patience.
