Assuming I will not be overclocking a core 2 duo CPU running at 266 * 4 FSB, how much performance hit would I be getting (roughly) by taking slower ram
The motherboard I picked supports PC2-4300, PC2-6400, PC2-5300 (asus P5B)

All three speeds are various dividers of FSB I assume (6400 is 266*3 I think)
would using the cheaper PC2-5300 cause a huge hit due to the partial divider (2.5?)

Also, any idea why the board doesn't support ram at 1066?

You won't see any significant difference :) The board does support 1066 RAM, you just have to overclock your FSB to get the RAM at 1066Mhz :)

ok, so I can just get 2 gb of the cheaper stuff instead and be fine? thats good to know :)

also no pricecuts coming up soon are there? I havn't been keeping in touch, unfortuanently
