Rainbow Six Vegas - Any way to work with Shader 2.0?

Frustratingly, Rainbow Six Vegas as many of you know (and as I just found out), requires a Shader model 3 card.I have an x850 Pro AGP which is only Shader model 2.0 and the game will freeze on the Unreal Engine logo (music keeps playing, CPU load increases indefinitely).

I've read some things online which state you just have to edit every engine ini file in the game folder and change the value of DisableShaderModel3=false to true

However, I've tried this and it didn't change anything. Is there any known way to get the game to run in Shader model 2.0 yet? I can't believe Ubisoft would be so stupid as to cut off the large base of customers who are still on Shader 2.0.
 
Im in the same camp. X800xl etc.

At the moment there is no possible way or tweak to get R6Vegas running on SM 2. Although i have heard there is a poll ubisoft created taking numbers of SM2 and SM3 users. Apperntly ubisoft will determine if creating a patch for sm2 is worth the trouble.
