I'm wondering if it's possible to raid 0 an m.2 sata drive with a sata ssd
I bought a 500gb 850 evo m.2 (used) and i also have a normal 850evo of the same capacity, so i was thinking on making a raid 0 array with both drives

You sure can configure them in RAID 0, although before doing that, benchmark each one of them to make sure both cards have the same performance.

My worry would be is your M.2 port may have a cleaner higher bandwidth connection to the storage than your Sata SSD so by putting them in a raid 0 you may actually hamper your bandwidth. JBOD may be better for you if you want to keep them as one logical volume.

Putting SSD drives in RAID is rarely a good idea. The RAID will function at the lowest speed drive of the RAID. The only reason I would do RAID 0 with SSD drives is if I have a number of them all running at the same speed. Even then, the gain you get from it is relatively minimal imho. I tried it for about 2 years, and gave up on it. I would rather have the full size of my drives, then the slight performance boost I might get from the RAID.

Don't mix drive Interface methods, it will run at the slowest drives speed.

That is true.

What is also true is you should ditch the ssd and sell it to me. :) Win win!

Why are you doing this?

lol,, i guess i might just use the m.2 as boot drive and 500gb ssd as game storage.
BTW ssd has almost 20TB worth of writes

I may not do it, i was just curious about it ;)

Well, the reason may matter. This type of arrangement is one of those things that might work technically, but there's going to be a whole lot of drawbacks and very few (if any) advantages. You COULD put a rocking chair on top of a Porsche, but unless there's a really good reason, it's kind of a waste of time.
