Still about a $0.50 a day in mining profit. I plan to keep mine as a free space heater in the winter time...

Honestly, still overpriced in my mind.

I got my RX-480 for $170 and till I see the RX-580/GTX-1060 in that price-range, won't consider the prices have normalized. Until we see RX-580/GTX-1060 under $200 regularly, GTX1070 for $300, 1070-Ti/Vega56 for $350, GTX1080/Vega64 for $450, I can see the ripples from Crypto still effecting GPU pricing, but should come down fast.

I know AMD/nVidia, Vendors and Manufacturers will do their damnedest to keep these prices up so we don't balk at $800 GTX1180.

That it will do. GTX 480 all over again. Its also great if you love the sound of a leaf blower or hair dryer also.

It's a decent midrange card. And if you don't want to fiddle with overclocks, a worthy buy over a 1060. However not worth it for VR.

I see the 8GB version is on sale too for $269. Just a month ago the RX580 Red Devil was $290 and that was a bang up price.

$250 I consider reasonable for the 8GB version, and $200 for 4GB. But again, wait and see. With new cards around the corner, prices might come down even more.

One of the best bang for the buck Linux GPUs at MSRP.

AMDs commitment to Open Source has really paid off for them. Their 100% open drivers on Linux are now rock solid on pretty much everything... they play well with DXVK, the 580 punches above its weight in terms of Linux, performing just a hair under the 1070 at 1080p... and in fact besting it in a lot of games at 1440 and 4k without requiring closed source bolted to the kernel drivers. The days of Nvidia being the gold standard of Linux gaming are coming to and end. (the 580 beats the 1070ti at 4k in standard Linux benchamark games like Deus Ex and Bioshock)

    https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=july-2018-gpus&num=1

If they stay at this price point I would say they are the Linux go to cards until the next round of AMD mid range cards launches. Vega 20 code is in the kernel waiting. :)

I got lucky and found one on a local yardseller site. Apparently the guy only used it to write drivers, looked and smelled brand new, got it for $200.

Anyhow, its been a decent card for 1440p with Freeysnc, although it doesn't OC worth a damn (1380)1415 / (2000) 2150 & its a little loud with an aggressive fan curve.

If i could have waited, I would have picked up 2 in crossfire.
I went with a 1070 instead and at much more.

Can't wait to see the prices drop when Nvidia drops the 1180 or whatever it's called.

If the 1180 really comes in at around 800 bucks... I doubt it will effect any of the mid range pricing at all. Unless Nvidia is planning 1170s 1160s 1150s ect and I wouldn't hold my breath on that.

I have fond memories of my RX480 8GB, especially the part where I sold it for $180 more than I paid for it 6 months later. Was a decent 1080p card though.

I'm sure nVidia already has an 1130 (Shittier than the standard 1130) edition already planned out.

Good to see some pricing moves finally! It’s a good midrange gpu Still needs to be 250 or less for the 8gb though. Even for the 580.
Remember 170 for rx 470s and 199 for the 480!? Hell I paid 229 for an open box nitro 480 8gb a month after launch.

Sadly it seems that they are hanging on to those inflated prices to the bitter end. I blame the retailers who just wont let go of the gouging.

    If you shop:
Some good deals on the forum here for nvidia cards. Also Evga had b stock 1060 6gb for 199.99 shipped this Wednesday for midweek madness. 1 year warranty there if that’s a concern. 1070 founders 349.99 and 1080 founders 399.99.

After swearing off nvidia for new cards I caved and bought the 1080 at 400. Happy to sell it if AMD can bring a gpu under 500 that is as good or better. Vega is way too inflated still.

When the RX 480 4GB was released, it was $200. Were the RX 580 4GB more expensive?

Let's see what happens with the pricing of the new Nvidia GPUs, that's what interests me... I sold my 1080 when the prices went mental so have no GPU at the moment, waiting on the new gen and hoping they don't get catapulted skyward in pricing.

What a strange left handed card!? I’m guessing it’s meant for mining primarily with just one video output. A little late to the party If so.

4gb RX580 should be under $199... if it is above that, then it can sit on the shelf

It's gotta be. I can't think of any reason to make a card like this otherwise. Well, maybe for the second card in a crossfire setup.

HA, I did the exact same thing. The RX480 8GB was all the card I ever would need since I didn't game beyond 1080p. But the reality was I just do not have much time for gaming now a days. I sold it for $100 more than I paid for it a year after I bought it. Dang, that was a win-win. Added $60 bux and bought a new laptop. :)

Agreed. They also don't really have to performance to use a full 8GB on a game that would require it. If you going cross fire then aue bit support is abysmal for multi GPU now anyway.

It's not about the amount of memory. According to 1080p FPS comparisons on YouTube here's the rundown:

    GTX 1060 6GB vs 580 8GB ... 580 won best fps for most games
    GTX 1060 6GB vs 580 4GB ... 1060 6GB wins hands down

I don't think it's the amount of memory that's the issue here; something else has to have been disabled on the 4GB model but others here would know better if it's so or not than I would
