ok well recently i ordered these cheap rosewill fans for $4 each and they move a ton of air but they are mighty loud, i cant stand it. I can barely hear my lian-li fans and i want something as quiet or quieter than those while looking good. i was thinking about the aerocool turbine fans. But on the reviews from newegg i hear mixed reviews.
"they are quiet but dont push a lot of air"
"they are loud and push a lot of air"
"they are quiet and push a lot of air"
i get confused.
any suggestions will be good!

1600RPM Scythe S-Flex's. They move quite a bit of air at 12V, at 7V they are almost inaudible. At 5V they're so quiet I can only hear them at 6 inches away. They are kind of expensive ($15 per fan) they are worth every cent.

Yate Loons FTW. You can Vmod them and they come in various flavors. LED Orange+black and in black.

ive heard good things about both yates and scyths but neither of them have any good looking ones. I would like something with blue or red LED's
i like these: because they look cool and it says they're only 20db's which i think is low

but i have no idea which one is the right review.

these are my old fans: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835200007
they have a very nice amount of airflow ( 77 cfm) but idk why people said they were silent, mine were loud, but i dont have a fan controler. Im using these on a coolermaster GeminII and i can tell a difference because i took them off and used some lian-li fans on them an literally there is a 5 degree celcius temperature difference quiet amazing really.

Yates do come in LEDS, blue. I don't know if ither colors. They also come in various sizes and speeds.

i think im going to go with the turbines because they are only 19 db and thats the lowest so far, or if i cant get them (parents say i spend too much on computers) ill just get a fan controller and turn down my fans.

No reason not to get Yateloon fans... less than $5 and are basically one of the best. You can get SLIGHTLY better fans but nothing for less than 3x the cost... and the improvement is almost nothing. And yateloon come in clear and led and all the fancy stuff.. unlike the more expensive/slightly better fans

Also many fan specs are pretty much outright lies.... I'd check silentpcreview.com or some other site that will actually test a fan.

If you want to get Yateloons best place:

Yate Loons are same as Nexus fans (Yate Loon is OEM of Nexus i think), so get them. They are far more better than Lian Li fans (i own/owned 3 Lian Li cases - PC-A09, PC-A17, PC-V1000 Plus II), and i use Nexus fans instead them.

Edit: don't trust that dBA numbers :). That number is simply a lie.

I would vouch for yate loons, but dont get them from jabtech. The last set of yates i got from jabtech all died with in 2 months. One exploded and the bearings failed on the other two.

If you can then buy Scythe Kaze Master. Only 4 fans controlled (compare to 6 with Zalman), but it shows RPM, have temperature probes and what is the most important - it can actually stop the fan.

i dont care about if i can see temps or rpm. i just need to lower the noise and it would be pointless to stop the fans because i need them ,lol.

Yes, but it also means better 0V & 3,5-11,4V range compared to 5-11,4V range of Zalman. I own both and i'm thinking about replacing the Zalman in server with another Kaze :).

That's a great controller... The Zalman one. I use it

Those Xigma tek's though, probably run at about 32dba. 25dba is a blatent lie. NO fan is substantially quieter than another fan of the same airflow/rpm/size... a 7dba difference is roughly 2.5x the acoustic power, and almost twice the perceived loudness... It would be impossible to get a fan with 65cfm to be almost half as quiet as any other 65cfm fan

Yup, don't believe the numbers, most of them are plain lies. Go with what people here recommend.

I will say it in different way:
1) Noctua NF-S12 is quet, but have low cfm, expensive
2) Noctua NF-P12 is a little bit more noisy, but have better cfm, expensive
3) Then you have Nexus and Yate Loon fans, they are bit noiser or at same level as NF-P12, have good cfm, but much less expensive
4) I don't have experience with Scythe fans (ok with one from Kama Bay, which was ticking at highest RPM, so i replaced it), but they should be quiet too.

Taking other fan brands in terms of noise is risky.

these are on sale now for $9.99 (half price) have blue leds, 110cfm and almost silent at the low end. they come with a 3.5" controller and a pci slot controller that are pretty nice, , and wires are sleeved in black. they will also run on auto, ie they have a temp sensor and will run its own program temp/rpm.

i might get those, but only 2 since they are $10 and short of money. im still going to get the zalman controller because so i just have one controller instead of 3. and 2 more fans probably the xigmatechs because their cheap.

bump, i went to radioshack today to look for some copper ramsinks but they were out of stock. but man they have some good comp stuff. they have wc parts, heatsinks, cable sleeving, cables, all sorts of fans and ramsinks and all sorts of stuff. its pretty cool.
anyways, i got 2 thermaltake 120mm fans, they are red and black, they are 80cfm and 20db, really quiet and look good, also i bought a thermaltake fan controller for $20. im gona buy some more of those fans once i get money. the controller is nice for $20. nice LED's only 4 fan slots though. ill probably end up buying another controller.
